Bankruptcy

So I found out the other day that the venue I REALLY wanted to have my wedding at, filed bankruptcy earlier this year.  Fiance and I had already contaced the venue coordinator to write a contract and we were supposed to make the deposit this week.  I'm sooooo disappointed b/c I fell in love with this place and now I may not be able to have my wedding there Cry.   Tomorrow I will call and speak with the venue coordinator and discuss this bankruptcy matter further, but more than likely I will have to find another venue.  This sucks!  This is probably a stupid question, but would you still have your wedding at a venue that filed bankruptcy, but is still operating their business as usual?

To be honest, no, I would not want my wedding there.  I would be disappointed but I would be happy that I didn't put money into the venue and then hear it is going through bankruptcy.  I wouldn't want to risk something going wrong with the proceedings and then the assets are frozen, etc including my deposit.

Count this as a good thing and go find yourself another venue.  It is most likely a blessing in disguise.

Research the matter no telling why they may have filed. It doesnt mean they cant operate a business just means somewhere down the line there was an issue might have been due to taxes! Bankruptcy is not a perment thing! Just do your research!

The venue we decided to go with has filed bankruptcy but the place is note closing, the ownership company had to file bankruptcy because of a failed real estate project elsewhere. They are still in strong financial standing

I would not have the wedding there.  There was an earlier post of a venue closing and several brides loosing their money.  Of you pick them, that cloud of worry may loom over your head. You have other things to worry about.  They can tell you one thing, but the bank may tell them something else. What if they are forced to close their doors... you money will not be refunded.  I would go with choice number two.. better safe then sorry.

no i wouldnt, because ive seen situations where the doors close indefinitly on venues where brides have booked, loosing their deposits. You dont want that, no venue is worth that. You will find something.

Let me just put my 2cents in here. Ber extremely CAREFUL and smart about wanting to book with this venue. although it had altered your plans a bit, when these place start going into bankruptcy they begin cutting out a lot of things that are promised in contract, and being that their business is changing the could care less about honoring the needs and wants of a client. Trust ME!!!!! That's all i'm saying BUT i hope and pray that God works it out in your favor
