Photographer Issues

So here's the low down. I am supposed to be meeting with a Photographer this evening and I e-mailed her Tuesday afternoon to confirm and where we were going to meet. Its Friday and I still haven't heard from her. This other photographer that I been corrresponding with through e-mail and I meet with him, I also e-mailed him with what he would charge for what I wanted. Haven't heard from him either. I do understand that people have busy lifes and such, however this is a business and I don't get why they would not be checking with their business email and respond. I just think that it is bad customer service and just feel that they must have alot of clients that I am not that important. Maybe I'll just decide between the two that even after meeting them, they still send me e-mails to say hi and give me some other ideas and such. Thats the kind of people who want your business. I am not about to chase any vendor down. Sorry this is so long but what would you do?

I would email the photographer you're to meet with tonight again - maybe something happened with your email going to her or her reply coming to you? As for the other photographer, I would give him a few days then email him. One thing to remember about wedding vendors since we are going into a weekend is you might not hear from the second until Sunday. I give vendors 3-5 days to respond, depending on A) If I'm contacting during wedding season and B) What day of the week I contacted them (i.e Sat vs. Wed). HTH & GL! I also would keep my options open and look at other photogs.

What price range are you looking at and are you looking for like a photojournalistic style?

That would make me angry. I think that any vendor should be emailing you and confirming appointments! You shouldn't have to track anyone down. I think if I were you I would consider looking for someone else altogether. You'd think that in this economy people would be even better about customer service...

Well one would think that would be the most logically way of looking at from a customer view point and should be has a Business too. However thats the way I look at it too. I just feel that if a business want you has a customer they will do what they need to do to obtain you has a potential client. The price range that I was keeping with was 3k and below. I am looking more for a photographer who is not restricted in their work. Freeflowing and fun. I don't understand all the lingo and stuff that goes with photographer and the styles like what you mentioned photojournlistic.

Maybe even instead of emailing the photographer you are supposed to meet tonight, I would probably make a phone call since it's so close to the meet time. Emails can be easier to ignore than a phone call. As far as response, I too would be irritated with that, but like Tygirl I will give 3 days for a response. It worries me because it gives me the impression that is how it would be if you booked them. Planning is stressful enough without not being able to get a hold of your vendors when you need them.Hopefully you will get responses. If the two you are in contact with don't work out I'm sure all us girls on here can give you some great recommendations. =)

Something like this happened to me but with a caterer. I sent them an e mail and a few days later they responded but the only thing they said was "before we give you any more information we would like to know your date because we get booked early" My date is a Tuesday and at the time was over a year away. So anyways I sent them an e mail with my date and I never heard back. So over a month later (I was in europe this summer so wedding plans were on hold for a month) I sent them another e mail with the three e mails we had exchanged and I restated my date and my questions and now its been a couple months since and we still havent heard back.Needless to say, I crossed them off my list : )

I swear, if anyone could be in the wedding industry, have a decent product and actually have prompt communication they would make a fortune! I know in my line of work if a member emails me and I don't respond back in two days I am going to be in big trouble.

Don't get me wrong - if a vendor doesn't respond promptly without a good reason then I cross them off my list.  The only reason why I say to try and contact them one more time is the DJ we ended up booking I had an issue with communication, but it was not his fault.  We had actually emailed back and forth a couple times, then I asked him a question, didn't hear anything and after 5 days emailed asking if he got my email.  Turned out he did, he had replied, but for some reason my account automatically put his reply in my spam box.  Needless to say, I'm glad I didn't jump to a conclusion quickly about nixing him because I hadn't heard anything.  But as PPs have stated, if a vendor has a habit of not replying promply without due cause, I would consider looking elsewhere.

Just browsing here, but I will recommend my FSIL, Amanda of Amanda Richelle Photography there is a link to her page in my bio. She was the exact person that you described you wanted and her work is amazing. Not sure where you are from in WA, but she is from the Tacoma area and willing to travel.

I would highly recommend Angela & Evan: http://aeimagery.com/ Great prices, great people! And Angela is quick to respond to emails.
