So... I thought I knew my people and I could send a few out without filling in the number. I felt vindicated when the first "blank" # of guests line was returned with a "1." Then another with a "2." Fine, I knew she's bring a date. Then, I'm talking to my cousin who lives out of state. Now, I left hers blank because I thought that maybe she might want to bring her son (my cousin, about my age who I have no contact info for).
Now she calls me to catch up and whatever, then the next thing I know, we're talking about RSVPs. Do you know that she starts saying, "uh, yeah, my son, and then you know that Mary has always been fond of you, and the two grand babies, yeah, we'll probably have like 4 and I might bring a date..."
UM HOLD UP, WAIT A MINUTE, WTH... grand babies? How old are they? Oh... 25 and 18... ok, I DON'T CARE!!! I don't really know them. Seen em like twice in my 44 years of life. NO... they can't come.
I got all tongue-tied and I was at the grocery store, and I just kind of abruptly got off of the phone with her... As soon as I got in my car I called her back. It went to voicemail. I had to tell her... Um no... we were thinking two when we sent the RSVP. That's you and your son. Mary... no, I don't know her really. And the grandkids... nice sentiment, but sorry, we're paying by the head.
Are you serious! Dang. I guess I get to join the club today!!!
And on another note... I got ZERO RSVPs today (mailbox stalker)!!
