Florist Help

Hey Ladies! I need your help. What's an reasonable price for flowers? I met with a florist for a quote yesterday. This is what she quoted me:
1 Bridal Bouquet
6 Bridesmaids
2 Mother's Corsages
10 Boutonnieres
2 Flowergirl balls
1 Bathroom bouquet
1 Lage unity arrangement

for a total of $920. I still have another florist I need to meet with. But, I'm just trying to see what's a reasonable price. I never knew so many flowers were needed until I met with the florist.

Re: Florist Help

  • The type of flowers and what is in season all make the difference.

  • It all depends on your budget. What are you willing to pay for and what do you think you can be budget concious about. My planner suggested I budget $1300 for flowers, my florists' proposal was for $100 less than that and it included 10 centerpieces as well as flowers for the cake table and escort table. Of course, I jumped on it. You didn't mention centerpieces, are you going to do them yourself??? What about a toss bouquet? Something else you want to consider is the size of the space and what decor is already there. If you are having your ceremony in a super elaborate church, then of course, you won't have to do a lot of flowers. But, if the space is smaller, you're going to have to do more to fill it up. Also, like @Missus said, the time of year can change the price of flowers greatly. I had my heart set on carrying a peony bouquet. But they aren't in bloom during July. So, of course, they would be super expensve. Ask the florist  about "look alike" flowers. Also, silk flowers have come a looooooooong way since our parents' weddings in the 80's.

You gave me a lot to think about. I want lilies and orchids, but she also showed me "look alike" flowers. The ceremony and reception are in the same place. The ceremony will be outside.  I have a lot to consider. Thanks for the advice!!!
