Friend rant- am i being a bia?? *You might file this under invite rant*

this may get long but i'm going to try to condense it. I'm pretty laid back, go with the flow type, and I definitely don't side eye ANYTHING. It's not my place really to judge nobody. You do you and i keep doing me easy cheesy. and it reallly do take ALOT to get under my skin. My friend is in town from texas and throwing a party sat. she invited me via fb.

Me: It's my weekend, Can I bring J (my kid) ?

Her: Yes kids can come, but food is going to be limited...I'm saving for a wedding;)

Me:
so what are you saying? bring food or dont bring the kid?

Her:
No, I'm saying don't expect a steak! LMAO I'll throw some crumbs to the lil' people;) JK!

Okay, first of all I didnt ask for all that extra added bs she threw in there. It was a yes or no question so I could arrange other plans. 2ndly, This girl is 33 years old throwing a graduation party for her G.E.D.  Like i said i wouldve rolled with it, I got an invite. but something about what she said and the way she said it just really p'd me off. i was gonna get her a gift but i'm thinking against it. i'm also starting to talk myself into being against her stupid party. am i just being a big old meany?

  • You may be overthinking this one. Her tone implies that she is joking. You know her better than I do so you know what the underlying tone really is. Just feed yourself and little one before you go. Although it's a GED she is still to be celebrated, there aren't many 30 somethings who would go back to school. most just say screw it, so good for her.

  • Taneesha said it better than me Tash, I was going to ask if you headed into reading that note already annoyed about something else?  From her her just don't expect steak answer, it sounded to me like she was was saying i'm serving, but it's no full meal.  Replace the word *limited* with lite, now tell us how you feel :)

porch chant?  go have some cake! go have some cake! go have some cake!

You guys are right, i just need to get over it (and myself). Thanks for the check!

annoyed about something else: Well we been friends for close to 20 years but we got into it a couple times because she has NO FILTER. So I think, knowing her, I read it with an automatic attitudey tone.  lol

somebody say cake!? Cake always makes me less ranty  :)

    BIG THANKS!

  • I wouldn't be offended at all. It looks like she is letting you know in advance that there isn't going to be a lot of food. As a guest I would appreciate the heads up and eat before we arrived. Nothing worse than going to a party starving and the food ran out.

  • Coming in late, but yeah.... sometimes it's hard to read tone, and that's your friend! Give her the benefit of the doubt and get J some chicken nuggets on the way :)
  • CAKE, CAKE CAKE =  destress :)
