Re: Silk Flowers

  • I did silk flowers for my bouquet and I mixed in real touch and regular silk flowers.
  • im doing them for my BM and the GM. To buy flowers thru our hotel package is ridiculous. Im also going to use them in the centerpeices. I figure if im gunna spend all that money, id like to get more than one use out of them. Michaels has some really pretty and real looking silk flowers

  • To be honest, silk flowers can be just as expensive as live ones! In Michael's some are from 5 to 12.00 per stem!!!!! But are understand your allergy concern though.

  • I have allergies too...silk flowers can be just as expensive as real flowers. I am doing hydrangeas in Ivory. Since I am having an all Ivory wedding with a pop of color in the BM's shoes and jewelry and the GM tuxes. The hydrangea bouquets aren't as expensive as I thought they were! Talk to a florist first to see what flowers you can actually use. Also if they take the pollen off of them you will be good...that's what gets us with allergies is the pollen not the flowers themselves...welll for me at least...HTH

  • Michael's & Hobby Lobby's flowers are usually 40-50% off and you can always use coupons.
  • I am doing destination I rather do silk than live flowers

  • My centerpieces are silk but my bouquets are real.
  • I agree with the PP's that some silk flowers are more expensive than the real ones.. but it depends on where you go. I do agree with Yolie.. Hobby Lobby is the spot.. at more times than not they are priced better than Micheals.

I mixed my flowers.. The personal flowers and the pew decorations were real flowers. and the altar decoration, rose petals, and reception pieces were all silk flowers..

It really depends on your personal preference.. and since you are allergic to real flowers, I would use the silk ones.. but put together some simple but elegant arrangements that will still wow people but be cost effective on your pockets.

lol.. yea that's me.. I think there's another knottie that does it too, but I can't remember her name.

Oh.. girl.. if you get migranes, then silks are the way to go.. and they travel well too.

P.S.- there's a Hobby Lobby in Laurel too!.. I stumbled on it by accident and chile I nearly passed out!.. When my mom came to visit I took here there (she does silk arrangements), and she didn't even get through the store! She did say that she will be coming back to browse!..lol
