Invitation setting the tone? PIP!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello fellow knotties...

Now, I knew the invitations are what set the tone of your wedding. Color, style, formality etc...That been said, FI and I came across these invites that we both looove. Our colors are silver, Cornflower blue and white...But the invitation design doesn't have any cornflower blue which was initially the main color..( Bridemaids dresses etc..)

After many proofs to customize the invite for us, we still prefer the silver and black that the seller original design , so we ( FI) actually decided that we should just leave it as is.

Now,  My DOC and my BFF think, the invite has to have blue in it, otherwise, we may need to change our colors! IS that so relevant? The invites are already in the mail from the seller to us , and the bridesmaids dresses are already ordered. My DOC said, then We will need to work more with silver in the room decor  with just small touches of blue... I have no problem with that option. But I mean, is that big of a  deal? FI doesn't care at all and says: Just leave everything as it! I'm starting to think, maybe, we should add a personal touch of blue in the invites, once they are here ( can be those diamond blue crystal , anything blue...in the boxes, since they will ship in boxes)

Please see pics, and your suggestions and opinion will be appreciated!

Sorry this is long.

I don't think it's THAT serious. Someone that received one of my blue and green invitations in the mail texted me the other day asking me what my wedding colors are. I don't think anyone will be like "why are the BMs wearing blue?! The invitations didn't have any blue in it!!!"

Those invites are beautiful!  I do believe that invites are the first impression for a wedding.  So you should try to hint at some elements of your wedding through the invite. I certainly would not change my colors but instead I  think you go with what you have and just as you said add a personal touch of blue some how.

Thank you island07b2b. This is  what I'm trying to think of now...Do you  think those acrylic diamond ( in blue ) or so will be good to sprinkle in the boxes? I was thinking of blue tissue paper as well, but IDK which one will look better and still make sense...LOL

Now see.  I am one of the few who will keep an invite if I think it is unique.  But that's just me.  I am a wedding geek.  LOL!

I like either idea to be honest.   Having a hint of blue is cool but really the invites  already hint at your wedding.  Those invites are really pretty and already says your wedding is going to be fabulous.  So, you could just leave the blue out for now and let your guests have that "ooooh" moment when they enter your venue.

I like the tissue paper idea. But the invitation itself is beautiful and elegant... like your wedding will be. That's setting the tone. Again, I don't think it's that serious. lol.

I know of people who have used elegant invitations that did not incorporate wedding colors on purpose for the element of surprise. I know of others who matched invites with the wedding decor exactly. In my opinion, it didn't affect the guests at all. I definitely wouldn't change my colors if I were you.

I do think invitations set the tone but not the color. If I received a purple invitation from you, that does not mean to me that your wedding is purple but you like to go against the grain and be different. Personally majority of the weddings I've been to send those boring white invitations, but once I get to the wedding I see every color of the rainbow. I look at the quality and personal design of the invite as setting the tone. If the invitation is on cheap looking, crumbled up/torn paper then I know what to expect from your wedding. HAM!! I personally like your invitations.

we just went to a wedding where the invites were black and silver but when we got to the wedding the colors were grey, purple, lavender and maroon (I think).  I like your invites and if I wouldn't change the colors.  I like the element of surprise anyway, no need to be matchy matchy.

My invites were done in a Sage green and white and the decor in the reception will be in orange with a little green.  My colors were Sage green and burnt orange.  I dont think it will really matter and I dont think people will pay that much attention to details like that anyways!

I like the invitations the way they are. They are very elegant. And no....your colors do not have to be included. Our colors are blue, silver, and white. We stuck with silver & white cause its more elegant & simple, which was what we were going for.
