F/U hotel discounts

F/U is followup, right?I'm getting several downtown hotels quoting me $139-$169/night. Not all of them, so I imagine some of them (Sheraton, Hilton, Westin) are probably a shade higher. It's anywhere between 15% and 30% off retail. The fancier the hotel, the bigger the discount. Airport hotels are about $94-109/night, but  when you consider those guests will probably rent a car they only come out ahead by a few bucks. We'll probably go with 10-15 rooms at the cheapest airport hotel and the rest downtown.

I found that the eastside had the same prices as rooms by the airport (~$95-115) and did not require that I guarantee any # of guests.  Most of my family stayed in Bellevue, so it worked out for them.

I'm not sure what type hotel you are looking for but we just blocked rooms with Hotel Andra (less than 10 rooms). It's a boutique hotel on 4th in Seattle. Their sales staff was fantastic and very accommodating. My Mom did a ton of research and discovered in many cases boutique hotels are offering better rates than many of the chains. The rates Andra quoted us are as follows:1 or 2 Queen Beds $128.001 King Bed $139.00Lux Suite (for FI and I) $160.00It sounds like you've done plenty of research just thought I'd share what we found. :)

FWIW the only place downtown that wanted to guarantee rooms was Hotel Monaco. We may use it for the WP and close family but that's it.d_smith, did you have to guarantee rooms to get that number? I'll be sure to check out Hotel Andra and some of the other small ones (Hotel 1000 &c) myself. Also the Ramada Inn in Belltown just quoted us $92 so if it's not a total fleabag motel that may be our pick for guests on a budget :).

Hey I thought I might chime in here...I did the whole wedding room blocks and its great if you want everyone to be in the same hotel. But no one ended up staying at the hotels we chose because one of our guests found a cheaper way to get a nicer hotel. If you use Priceline.com's Name Your Own Price you can get a much better deal. We stayed at the Sheraton downtown for 95 dollars a night and some of our friends got the Western downtown for 90 dollars. The only drawback is that you do not get to choose which hotel, but you are guaranteed one in a certain area (which you choose) and a five star, if that is what you choose. I think it was a great deal and I recommend it to anyone looking to save money but still wants a nice hotel. If you need any help or have questions you can email me at Jkish2@gmail.com

Andra has two options, either put down a deposit and guarantee rooms, or lock in the rate and let each person make their own reservations. So far we have chosen to allow each to make their own reservations since we have such a small number of rooms. I honestly don't know if the rate changes if you choose to guarantee rooms.

Oooh, thanks for this information! This is something I really need to do, but am kind of freaked out by it because I don't really understand the whole process or what is a good deal! But I know I've already had people ask, even though we're 9mo. out still!

We did Sping Hills Marriot downtown for $130 for our group rate.  It was great!

Niq - Im going to advise you against the Ramada.  It is not a very nice hotel...it also has HORRIBLE reviews on tripadvisor.com.  I highly recommend reading the reviews on Trip advisor before contracting rooms with any hotel.  The U-district might have cheaper rates than the downtown hotels also.
