DJ help

Did you guys give your DJ a "don't play this" list? Also did you give him a suggested song list or told him the style the vibe etc? This DJ situation is stumping me. Thanks.

Yes all of the above. You can give him songs that you don't want played. Cause the last thing you want is not to hear the chicken dance and one of your guest go and request it.  We also gave him music styles that we wanted played and certain songs that were a must have.

If I had to hire a DJ, what he could not play was any R. Kelly?

Sounds like me.  I'm ok with Happy People,  But not the raunchy stuff.  R. has to be played in small doses.

we gaave our dj the basics (processional, recessional, reception entrance, 1st dance, daddy daughter dance, mother son dance) but other than that, that was about it!! our dj was passionate about not having a "playlist" b/c he said it tends to get stuffy, he was like you want everybody to be happy within reason so let them suggest some songs to get everybody moving......we did however want our dj to "audition" and hear him spin and i can say the reception is gonna be more like a night club than anything.....which is what i wanted anyhow...i want everyone up and dancing and having a good time!

We're giving our DJ all of the above. He actuall has a format that we need to complete which asks these questions as well as song  choices for other things (bouquet toss, cake cutting, etc)
Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml

We gave our DJ a must-play list and a list of songs we like to party to (old & new school), which was pretty long....etc. He also threw in some that we didn't think of during our last meeting. The only thing we requested to not hear was house music cause it gives me headaches...lol.
