Entertainment

Not sure if anyone else has this issue but.. I am so worried about having a boring wedding. We are having a jazz brunch reception. I am debating between having a jazz band and a dj ~ we want a funky vibe like a classy lounge. My thought is do you think people will be bored? We are having the receptionfrom about 11:30- 3pm with a photobooth and caricature artist. What do you think? Am I overthinking this or will this be entertainment enough? What would you get?

M1ssj I was thinking the same thing! i don't want a boring reception either. s we were thinking about hiring a dj, having a photoshoot booth...im still pondering on things to add. i was concerned about the music cause i didn't want to offend my church family, and the older crowd. I think so for you have a good selection on entertainment.

I have the same problem. We are also having a jazz band, photo booth, candy bar at our noon reception. I have accepted the fact that it will be "boring" by dance-party wedding standards but we figured we'd "entertain" with tons of interesting food. I think it's enough for now but I am interested to see what other ppl think.

I think the jazz band would be fine. I've been to lounges where there was a jazz band & the band was playing all kinds of music.....hip hop, r&b, old school & current music. All of the bands I saw got the guests off their feet & everybody was into it.

Have you been places to watch the band play?

If I got an invite for a 11:30 or 12 reception I personally wouldn't be expecting it to be much of a dance party. I think that you guys have more than enough to keep your guest "entertained"

I've been to lounges with jazz bands who play a variety of music and ppl dance, so I'm sure some ppl will dance at your reception.

Im with MsApril, since your receptions are so early I wouldnt expect much for dancing either unless you're gonna give a night mood.  But I think you all have a lot as far as entertainment.

I agree with Msapril as well.  Since it's during the afternoon I think you'll be ok.  And I think that your guests will be entertained enough with the photobooth, caricature artist, the band, and food.  If anyone complains, well then they need to go!

Yeah I am not expecting it to be an all out dance , fist pump atmosphere lol. I am just wanting the good vibe with afew dances (mainly for pics) I'm auditioning bands and singers in the next 3 months.

    Thanks ladies

I'm not sure what your entertainment budget is but the band I hired is amazing. I saw them perform before I hired them and they do everything, Jazz, ole school, Motown, R&B, Soul, and Pop. When I saw them perform, it was at an upscale steak house around lunch time so mostly middle aged professionals, mixed race crowd and everyone enjoyed it. One song they sang had a salsa beat to it and I don't even salsa but I tried. LOL

Look on my website under reception I have a clip of them. They will travel to your event.

with you reception being at that time, i wouldn't expect a ton of dancing either.  just provide the atmosphere.  i'm sure people will be fine. it sounds like you have enough entertainment planned.
