Registries???

Are they worth it? I had my surprise shower and though I loved every minute of it and am highly greatful, I got 2 gifts off my registry, everything else was either naughty or body products, which I don't use. A friend of mine who just had her shower said she got 40 pieces of lingure and nothing from her registry. Any body else have the same thing happen to them?

I just had my bridal shower this past weekend, half the gifts were from the registry and the other half weren't.

I say create one they don't take that long to do and you may get some stuff off of them.

My shower was two weeks ago and I received most of the gifts from my registry and the rest was cash.  That's how we usually do in my family.  My friends are giving me a shower in a month and I have no idea if they will buy from the registry or not.  I'm just happy to have one so if things aren't purchased, I can go back and get them at a discounted price.

I think it's still a good idea to have one.  I'm having my shower next weekend and I had my MOH put on the invitation to not get lingerie.  I don't want to open that stuff in front of my mom and FMIL.

Maybe people got you lingerie and body stuff because they were under the impression that it was a bachelorette party and not a bridal shower? I'm sure they will still get you gifts from your registry for the actual wedding, so I would say it's best to register, unless you just want cash

I had my shower yesterday & my MOH told the guests they could get items from the registry, but that I recommended VS and Bath & Body Works. I really didnt want items from the registry for my bridal shower. I got 1 item from the registry & everything else was lingerie, perfumes, etc. But that was how I wanted it & it was cool.

It really depends. You can create the registry for the wedding gifts but make sure that for showers you include on the invite the type of shower it is (i.e. lingere or housewear, etc) That way people will know what type of gifts to get. (FI's mom just informed me of this tidbit of information, because I thought people just picked stuff from your registry as well or brought what they wanted.)
