NYC WEDDING!! NEED HELP!!!

HEY EVERYONE I AM GETTING MARRIED REALLY SOON AND NEED SOME HELP SHOULD WE HAVE A DRINK OF THE NIGHT? IS SERVING FRIED CHICKEN AT YOUR WEDDING TO BLACK?(THATS WHAT SOMEONE TOLD ME) DO I GO WITH A BIG WELL KNOWN CATERER OR A LOCAL ONE THAT FOOD TASET GOOD AND THEY ARE OFFERING ME EVERYTHING(FOOD, BARTENDERS, AND FOOD SERVERS/CLEANUP HELPERS)  FOR A GOOD PRICE? THEY ARE T&C CATERING.NET LOCATED IN BROOKLYN, NY AND THEY CATERED A FRIEND BIRTHDAY PARTY AND EVEYONE LOVED THE FOOD!!! THEY ARE REALLY NICE PEOPLE.... BUT MY MOTHER IN-LAW IS TELLING ME SOMETHING DIFFERENT. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

    First welcome to TK and the AAW board.   Please take a a moment to tell us more about yourself and your wedding.  We love the intros.  :)

    As to your questions, the short and quick of it to me is to do whatever makes YOU happy.  It's your day.  Do it your way.  If you go around trying to make everyone else happy you are going to be miserable.  

    You can have any dish at your wedding.  It's the way it's presented that makes all the difference.  

    Lots of couples have a signature drink.  I know I am.  Go ahead and have one if you are so inclined. 



    Love is the ultimate superpower.   
    It can make you weak and strong simultaneously.

    Thanks.... my wedding day will be Feb 14 2013 we are doing a winter wonderland theme my colors are white, black, and lavender

    Welcome to the board hun... These ladies are awesome. Having fried chicken is not too black at all. Whatever you have people is going to eat it anyway. Go with what you want, its your day and people should not try to get you to do other yhings unless theyre paying..

    Welcome to the board. I agree with everyone else. Do the wedding how you want it. Don't let other people sway your decisions. If you are really concerned about serving it, find a way to put a twist on the menu.

    Welcome to the Board my fellow NY'er! :) If you and your FI love fried chicken, then Go for it!! I've been to Lots of Italian weddings where they served pasta and Asian weddings with sushi. No one complains that it's too "ethnic", they just enjoy the food! I'd also say you should go with the caterers that you can afford and feel good about. In NYC, , the Big name just comes with a Big price tag. The service and quality are not necessarily better. My final suggestion is to check The Knot's planning tools. They give you a sense of which tasks need to be done first and which can wait. That way you won't feel overwhelmed as if you have ti make ALL of the decisions today. The ladies on this board are great and will give you Fabulous help. Happy Planning!
