Registry Questions

Are any of you guys not doing a registry? If not, how did you word it in your invites? For those of you who did, did you ask for anything besides household gifts? FI and I both have our own houses, so I can't seem to find the need for a registry. I sure don't need another vacuum cleaner or set of pots and pans.

Re: Registry Questions

  • All the etiquette/registry boards always suggest that you have a registry with a small number of items. Even if it's just new towels, new set of sheets etc. Things that you know get worn over time and could be replaced. The smaller registry will suggest to your guests that there isn't much that you need and if they choose to gift you something they will then have the option of giving you money or gift cards. But for guests that don't feel comfortable giving you money or a gift card atleast they will have an option to get you something from your registry. I think that home depot does have a registry but I could be mistaken. Did you have something else in mind?

  • Thanks rowenac82. We can always use extra linens, if not now, definitely later.
I will also check with home depot.
  • I guess another option for you might be an amazon.com registry but that depends on how tech savvy you think your guests are. And I checked on the home depot registry and it does exist.

All of this.  Also, think of some things out of the box like a bbq for your hubby, you will probably want some nice large frames for all your photos from the wedding, home theater stuff, game consoles, etc!

    <div>FI would LOVE this...</div><div>
</div><div>What about Honeyfund? It's a registry to help with the Honeymoon... I signed up but didn't really get it going.  We're kind of in the same boat in that we're older and don't need a lot of stuff and were thinking of registering for just a few items. <div>
</div><div>I'll be looking forward to your feedback!!</div></div>
  • So we are registered at Target and BBB and I had a big plan to put our website information on our invites, which had the registry information on it! However, I totally forgot when I ordered the invites to do so!  so now we have a registry but no one knows about it! LOL

Since we already live together I added new linens,  towels and such. I also some really good quality home small appliances.  No one will ever see the list but it is out there! LOL

Registering is also just fun to do together!

  • FI and I had a good time completing our registry.  We're registered at Macys and Target.  Even if there isn't anything in particular that you need for your home, is there something that you want but do not want to spend your money on.  If so that could be something to  put on your registry.  Gift cards are always a great option too!

</div><div>You are actually not suppose to include registry info in invites (well according to all the etiquette rules but really you could do whatever you think won't offend your guests). But I am sure when your guests receive your invite they will probably ask your mom or bridesmaids if and where you have registered, that's when people will find out. So you should be fine. Word of mouth will help get the information out. </div>
