Anyone can attend my ceremony at the church, it is huge! At the reception we will have an attendant handing out welcome cards. If they do not have a card they do not sit down and eat.

I would surely hope that no one that we know/associate with would be that tacky. However if they try, they won't have a place to sit.

See, my family is from west africa. So sometimes people just show up because they know your family. I think this is very rude. Looking for suggestions on keeping people out????

I had a list of every guest in alphabetical order & their table numbers. Those who were not on the list had to wait to be seated if there were empty seats. We had 4 people that came that failed to rsvp, but they were lucky there were enough empty seats. No one showed up that wasn't invited though.

When I was going to get married in my hometown, I was afraid of this.  I thought that my grandmother would invite everyone from my home church to the wedding because I grew up in that church.  They will come and expect food.  Thankfully, we changed locations, so the only crashers will have to spend about a grand to do so.  lol

I am getting married in my hometown and have the nerve to have a small wedding with 65 invited, hoping that like 50-55 actually attend.  I don't think I am terribly worried about crashers because the wedding is a Friday aftenoon (4pm). I think that a few people may come to the reception (after dinner is served). I don't really care what happens after dinner is served because there will be plenty of cake to go around.

I feel your pain. I'm West African too so wedding crashers are quite common. What I've decided to employ is a seating chart and a guest list at the door. Crashers will have to wait until invited guests are seated to see if there is enough room.
