Low Floral Centerpiece Idea

I need one! My florist had sent over a design idea for 3 tables with a low lush floral arrangement of hot pink roses, dahlias, hot pink stock, and i think ranunculas. My issue.....this litty bitty centerpiece $75??? YEA RIGHT! So I'm brainstorming on other options. 1 option is to replace those 3 with 3 more of my submerged dendrobium and floating candles centerpiece, OR probably to do just a small centerpiece of roses.....OR i could do a square vase of floating dendob petals and a floating candle....

What do you think? Ideas please!

I like these. Simple, but classy.

  • I think your ideas are all good choices. To be honest my low centerpiece is actually more than yours. It's $125 but that includes the rental price of a glass pedestal bowl to put them in along with gems at the bottom of the bowl. I seriously kinda rolled with the punches when it came to floral arrangements. I knew if I was gonna do real flowers, it was going to cost an arm and leg. I am double using my low centerpieces though. These will be placed on the fire place during the ceremony.

Is the $125 a piece?? OMG honey chile! I'd faint! LOL. I am repurposing my tall curly willow arrangments that will be at the altar during the ceremony to place them on the estate table and 2 of the guest tables.

<div>yes $125 a piece!!!!:-| And to think my mom wanted me to have all tall centerpieces and actually said she will pay the difference. Then that would put me in the position of having to pay for more flowers for my ceremony..nope..not going to happen. Below is what the tall one would look like, and I have to rent the candelabra part..smh...this was actually fiance's pick. I also don't want any green leaves with my flowers so I think that makes them more expensive as well. I just want all purple...:-/</div><div>

  • I think if you're flexible about your flower type and are the least (and I do mean the least) bit diy-ish, you can do this yourself and on the cheap.

when my moh got married, her centerpieces were roses, we ordered from this site:  http://www.freshroses.com/design.html they're still in business and do all sorts of other flowers.   this is just an example, but this first picture is about 40 tightly bunched carnations.   I cant stand carnations, but all wound together in this tight ass afro, they don't look 1/2 bad.  it would cost me $350 to do 10 of these centerpieces if I diy-ed it.   Ask MissJ, for a solid dollar, dollar tree has pretty decent size/weight vases.   The last picture is even cheaper, babys breath bouquets, which as a garnish don't look like anything, but again, tightly wound and voila.   The 2 in the middle are hydrangea, which I adore but they're moody mofos in the heat and a mix of hydrangea and roses.     p.s. Costco also has a floral department where you can order packages.    also see brideandblossom.com

you've got time to practice girl, you can do it.

I like all of your ideas... I really like the submerged orchids... if those are the centerpieces you are originally going with... it would flow nicely for those 3 tables.

As a free lance florist.. I will tell you, that the price she qouted you is mostly because of the dahlias, and ranunculas... they can get quite expensive depending on the time of year, and the color of the bud... she also probably added for the type of vase they are sitting in, as well as labor costs..

Sucks.. but it costs money (sometimes a crap load) for the visions we have for our day!

  • Yea I'm not a stickler for flowers. I'm not a carnation person, but that pic was quite cute! I may even bring that up to her when we meet next Friday. I'm trying to decrease this deposit and final bill as much as possible. I know that I'll be going with her though.

Sidebar, how about the original floral designer that I thought I was going to go with finally hit me up today 2 weeks later to follow up on the revised estimate. I'm so through with them. Once I thought about it, just the fact that I had to hunt them down to get a consult - don't even want to bother with it.
