restraunt reception?

Has anyone done this? Where do you have your ceremony? I want to look into it because it seems easier than all that catering and vendor stuff. Plus, they make food all day. So there's less of a chance of f-ing that up. (right?)Anyway, I'm just not sure about the ceremony. FI has never stepped foot in a church, so it seems akward to try that.  It's stressing me out. FI is helping, he just doesn't "get it" sometimes...  (really i'm just looking for more affordable alternatives that can allow us to do all this sooner than next October. because really, stress makes me want candy. and i wont fit in my dress then)

I think I saw a post about people having their reception at the Chapel in Capitol Hill (not sure if they were having their ceremony there too).  I know the Palace Ballroom does weddings....We're having our reception at the Lake Union Cafe, and they do their own catering, which is helpful.  Plus, a lot of people have their ceremonies there as well.  (Stress makes me want to eat ice cream, which is making it impossible to lose weight for this damn wedding!)

My parents got married in a church and then held their reception in a chinese food place! They knew the owner.I say maybe try a park, look at permits and areas available, or beach side, or like other pp said, get married at the place that does the food. Someone did Salty's here. I don't know how much that would be though.Or maybe a private ceremony in a family members or friend of family's back yard then head over to the restaurant.Hope that helps!

We had our reception at Daniel's broiler in one of their private rooms. I think their private rooms will hold 80ish in Seattle... Bellevue might be more.

We're thinking about doing this in Hawaii. If we do, we can get married in their outside grassy area that overlooks the water or we can get married on the beach, then go to the restaurant for dinner. I think you can get really creative for ceremony venues if you do your reception at a restaurant. A park, a museum, a church/chapel - all of these are options to you.
