Invite Question- Timing (2 parter)

Ya'll had me thinking about this this morning. And since i'm getting all these things done this past week maybe this can get out the door too.

1. When should my invites go out? Our wedding is December 29th. I'm thinking maybe late September.

2. We're having a Vow Renewal in Vegas on Jan 1st. I know this sounds stupid but it works for us. Fiance is originally from California and his grandma really wants to see the ceremony. She cannot physically or financially get here. Plus, he didn't want his bio dad coming here because even though he loves him, he watched him abuse his mom for many years, and doesn't want his mom to mentally and emotionally go back to that place on our day. With that being said, He decided he wanted to do a vow renewal so any friends and family from Cali that could not make it here can drive a couple hours and would have the option to witness some type of commitment ceremony.

Fiance started a fb event for the vegas vow renewal. but I think they should get atleast "save the dates". What do you guys think? and if it's save the dates- when should those go out?

I completely understand ya'll wanting to have a vow renewal. It does not sound silly. For the STD's you can send them out as early as you want. For the formal invites, I would send out 4-8 weeks without an RSVP depending on where ppl will be traveling from. If doing RSVP, give it more time. Like 10-12 weeks so you can set an RSVP deadline a month or so b4 wedding. I set my RSVP deadline date based upon the date is due for venue 1 week b4. Which is 30 days before the actual wedding.

I know girl! It does seems like forever and a day! Truth be told, I'm not too excited about getting my invites out...I'm scared too many ppl gonna say they are coming. I have 230 invited :-( and that's 90% family.
