Cottage rental somewhere snowy in December?

My FI wants to take the kiddos somewhere with sledding, snow, etc. next month and put me in charge of figuring it out (isn't that always how it is, LOL?). He was thinking somewhere within a 1 hour drive of Seattle, if possible, since the babies hate the car and much more than that is really tough. Any ideas/recs? None of us ski, but sledding and such is good. Cheap is good... preferably no more than $250 per night, if possible.

We found some cute houses on VRBO near Lake Wenatchee, which is also be Leavenworth.  Lots of wintery stuff to do there.  I don't remember the house, but I'm sure you could find something there that you like. Oh, wait, 1 hr. from Seattle?  Hm, Lake Wenatchee is like 2 I think so maybe not.

I think within an hour your only options would be Snoqualmie Pass and the surrounding area.  Since the snow came early this year and the ski areas are opening (Crystal and Baker this weekend!! Yay!!) $250/night is going to be tough unless you can go midweek.  Check the below site - it might have something (sorry it isn't clicky):http://www.summitatsnoqualmie.com/info/winter/lodging_private.aspI glanced through but most weekend December rentals were $400/night.  You might look into the Summit Lodge (the hotel at the ski area) not as fun as a cabin but probably less expensive.  HTH!!

A little bit longer of a drive - but Leavenworth during the Christmas tree lighting is so much fun and Beautiful!

If you want to keep it to within an hour of Seattle, can you just go up for the day? It's usually a fairly easy drive, and that way you aren't locked into paying for a room in case the Pass is closed for some reason (as is the case sometimes). I believe Snoqualmie has a tubing area.
