Would you buy a dress 2 sizes smaller?

Today I drove past a bridal salon that just opened near my son's marital arts class. I had no intentions of trying on dresses this early but I decided to look around while I waited for my son's class to end. I found the PERFECT dress. It is nothing like I imagined I would buy. The problem is that the dress is discontinued and the owner of the boutique said she would sell me the last dress she had for $500 less than the sale price. Also I would have to loose about 15 pounds to fit in it properly. I will not have the dress taken out.

Would you buy this dress and loose the weight or keep looking for another dress?

    I wouldn't buy it... who's to say you'll lose the weight? {Not that you can't.}

    Nope Never.  I actually got my dress a bit bigger.  Easier to take it in, then to let it out.

    I would search for the dress in my size and buy it from another shop.

    I wouldn't do it. I bought my dress in my current size but plan on dropping some weight before the wedding. It hasn't happened yet. lol. Life happens and in the event you don't lose the weight it'll be harder to let out than take in.

    ps. it's expensive to let out dresses

    I seriously thought about it and kind of ordered a size small. Thankfully I am focus and have lost 20lbs. I should be able to fit in it nicely now. :-) So needless to say, no I don't recommend it.

    Nope. I wouldn't. I got a dress that was my size thinking I'd workout and lose weight and it'll have to be taken in. Ummm...didn't happen. Now, I am getting a corset back put in.

    I would advice against  it. You have over a year to go - I say keep looking and I'm sure you'll find something else you love equally, if not more.

    Temptation would kill me but i wouldn't dare do it. Life is too unpredictable and what if the weight doesn't come off? then you've purchased something you love and cannot wear

    No that you see what you like, search for dresses that look like it. Can you make it a corset back?

    I wouldn't do it. Like another pp said, its a lot of pressure. Its a difference between "wanting" to lose weight and "must" lose weight. Along with the stress of wedding planning, you wouldn't want to add that on your list. You have plenty of time & probably can find a dress similar to it or even another one that you'll fall in love with.

    Thank you everyone for your opinions. I am a very dedicated person and when I put my mind to something there is nothing stopping me. I decided to get the dress and loose the weight. Every other dress I have seen is either not as beautiful as this dress or it cost way more than I'm willing to spend. So the fact that I am getting a $500 discount is worth the pressure of loosing the weight and putting that money back in my pocket.

    I feel you on that! A $500 discount definitely sounds good. Congrats on getting your dress. It'll work out fine.
