Rant- Little stuff. FI is going to play poker tonight & I will miss him. I think what happened to me yesterday at the store was the onset of a migraine (I'd never had one before), and I've felt kind of off all day, especially since my stupid faulty BlackBerry f-ed up and my alarm clock didn't go off this morning. Then, when I got home from work, I was greeted by dog poop on the carpet. ARGH! Rave- It is the WEEKEND! And I get to have uninterrupted bridezilla time tonight, since FI won't be home (access to the computer AND say yes to the dress)! Woohoo!

Rant: BROKE MY RING YESTERDAY WHILE I WAS TEACHING!!! I smashed my finger super hard between a couple of bookshelves, and the ring smashed! My center stone popped out, but one of my student's found it. The center prongs are deeply disturbed and it will take about 3 weeks to fix. Rave: FI went to a reputable jewler so the ring is in good hands and come to find out if it hadn't been platinum it would have been irrepairable! Rave: All report cards are done and printed! :)

Thank goodness for students! Sometimes "child labor" is the best! I'm so sorry that happened, and now so relieved that I have a platinum one too. I can totally see this happening in the classroom! Eeek! I'm glad it all worked out!

Thanks me too! It was so terrible! I nearly fainted (I know that sounds stupid, and I've never fainted before) so we had to have a lesson on what happens if the teacher faints! :) And I agree about the child labor! :)

I know, sometimes I wish I could take my Kindergarteners home with me. My house would be clean in NO time! They love doing "jobs".

I like these - I feel like I can get to know everyone better. What a close call Sara!! Rant: my bridesmaids are already complaining that they don't want to spend a lot for a dress. My moh said $100 was over her budget. Am I right to argue here? I've been researching (even stores like macys) and it's nearly impossible to find a dress that cheap in my color (emerald)! Rave: Up! has been released! After happy hour (on my way right now) we're going to watch it! I love that movie ... I just met you, but I love you

No you're right, you really can't find a bm dress for less than $100-it may be out there but i have yet to see it unless you're going for a sundress....one of my bm's said something similar but that just goes with the territory i'm afraid :(

Archel, maybe part of your gift to them is paying like 30 of each of their dresses. Dresses are so expensive but they'll find a way. It is WAY too hard/nearly impossible to find a dress under 100!

Yes, I had a BM make this complaint also... I had to gently remind her that she made me pay $230 for a dress to be a BM in HER wedding. She kept insisting it was something we'd wear again. I will never, ever wear that dress again! I think that was more insulting than the price! So I'm going to say, "Ok, girls, pick one of these 3 dresses or so. This is what they cost." And that's that. I am not going to pretend like they will wear them again, because they won't. And I don't want them to be annoyed like I was, having that forced down my throat all the time! Haha, end rant.

Part of accepting to be a BM is accepting the cost of doing so too, I think anyway. When I was a BM this summer the bride's mom was kind enough to pay for our dresses for wedding labor in return. When you're a BM you have duties, this isn't just a "free" party. You are right Archel!

I agree that part of being a BM is buying the dress, and that getting a dress under $100 is hard. It's not impossible, though, you just probably can't get it at full price at a bridal shop for that amount. So I'd try really hard to get the price as close to her amount as you can. It sounds like she's telling you she's strapped financially, so just try to be sensitive to that. Some options - J Crew dresses on sale, Ann Taylor dresses on sale, let your BMs wear all black or one color but don't pick the dress for them, or look online. Some of the online vendors are really well reviewed - RKBridal.com has a really good reputation. I've been looking at this site b/c they have the full range of sizes and they're really affordable - http://www.plussizebridal.com/SearchResults.asp?category=BM

Thanks ladies!  My MOH is very much into finding deals and bargains on clothes, and is taking this challenge on like nobody's business! Thanks for the advice on where to look online, she has scoured the online sources and has latched onto Amazon, oddly enough. Apparently there are some inexpensive (and nice looking) dresses in my wedding color! See, I know that everyone is strapped for money right now and I fully support them finding a dress within their means (especially since it is likely a one-time use), I just know that it's going to be hard to find...
