Cincy2011

Hey girl! How are you? Have you adjusted to Cincy okay? Miss Atlanta at all? How's the planning going? Are the colors still working well for you?

I'm still loving the gray look for the guys but I am upset that gold jewelry and the gold chivari chairs provided by my venue pretty much clash. Ugh...we are trying to figure out now how to tweak some of the decor ideas to solve my somewhat OCDish problem. I figured out that pearl jewelry will make for nice, classy jewelry since I opted out of getting silver for my bridesmaids. I just have to try to find some fab navy shoes because I really am funny when it comes to silver ones. Idk why really...silver and satin I like for other people, but not for me. My consultant thinks I came from another planet when it comes to that.

I will probably check with Yas and see how she's tying in her colors. She is using navy and lilac with ivory and I think silver and/or gold. Maybe I should just train my mind to not think silver when I see a gray tuxedo. FI is trying to help by looking around for a darker version of the tux we like...not the darkest gray, but not the summery one either. It has been a challenge.

Let me know what's up with you. I have been on such a high lately that I'm eager to share, but I wanna hear too. ;)

Hey girl!  Sorry I didn't see this until now, we have been in Detroit with FI's family since Thursday (leaving tomorrow).  We have had a great time, but there is so much activity here that I've barely had time to get on TK!

I am adjusting well to Cincinnati.  Of course it helps SO MUCH that FI is there and we can see each other every day - that is such a treat!  I am not really feeling my apartment that much (carpet is dirty and they are taking their sweet time cleaning it, etc.) but I am at his place at least half the time if not more, so it's okay.  It's only temporary, I have to keep remdinding myself.  Smile

The funny thing is, I don't really miss Atlanta.  I was there for 11 years, so I got enough of it.  I do miss having such a huge list of options for things to do all the time, and the extreme diversity but Cincinnati is nice also.  I miss my condo though.  I wish I could have it transplanted up in Cincinnati for me to live in until I move in with FI next June!

Planning is going great - we hired the DOC and florist, which were two huge checks.  We ran into a little issue with the DJ b/c FI's friend from Detroit was going to DJ, but now says it's too hard to haul all of his equipment out there and keep it in a hotel for the weekend, etc. so it won't work logistically.  That sucks b/c he is good and was going to be CHEAP.  So now we are on the hunt for good DJs in Cincinnati and we don't know any.  We're going to start asking around soon though, FI has friends that he thinks will have some recommendations for us.

I'm sorry to hear about the gold chairs, etc. in your venue.  I completely would be right there with you about wanting everything to coordinate.  I would be upset also.  I think the best idea is to try and incorporate gold just a bit so the charis will make sense.  I know it seems strange with gray, but I have been wearing a lot of silver/gold jewelery combined and it's a cute look.  I think it will still look nice and navy goes with both silver and gold.

Our colors are still charcoal gray, white and an accent of chartreuse or more like spring green/apple green.  We just purchased our save the dates - they are soooo cute.  I tried saving a pdf but it's too small so it would look really grainy on here.  I'll have to scan them after we receive them - we ended up getting them from Wedding Paper Divas, I loved their designs and they were not too expensive.  We are working on invitations now...this part is actually more fun than I thought.  I love the Intenet!  I can't imagine being back in the day where you had to go to the paper store and sift through books of invitation styles in order to pick one.  Ugh!

My mom is so excited about the wedding and has been sending me links to possible dresses for her for the past week.  LOL.  It's so cute.  I was showing them to FI's mom and she liked my mom's style.  :)  So she's enjoying the process -she is coming to visit Cincy in Novmeber and if she hasn't bought a dress yet we are going to shop till we drop!!

You have been posting some great threads - keep it up, gotta keep this board alive!  I have been struggling just to keep up with the daily gorgeous wedding posts - LOL.

I am still thinking about your awesome e-party and that CAKE!  I am glad you had such a good time and your parents were so nice to put that on for you guys.  I wish my parents lived closer. Cry OK enough of my pity party now!  LOL

I am so glad that you are liking Cincy. I'm can imagine you missing the condo though. They really need to come and do your carpet...I HATE icky carpet!

Sorry to hear about your DJ issues...that stinks. We are actually switching our DJ too, I think. Originally we were going with a friend because he gave us an awesome deal, but we are thinking that we want part of our WOW factor to be the music and party feel of the reception. So, I'm looking into DJs that have more bang even if we have to spend a little more.

I love that you are still using those colors. So hot! I still have chartreuse boards on my computer as inspiration. ;) I totally understand how you can describe the greeen three different ways...same thing here. What color BM dresses are you using?

Send me some pics of what you are considering for MOB and MOG dresses...I'm stuck here!

    Some of the green boards...
