Sew In

So I wavered so much but I think I am not confident enough with the length of my natural hair so I am getting a sew in for the wedding. Tips? Best hair? I had one before when I was transitioning but the wedding day is  major. No problem with the viel comb or anything? Also is a week before early? I am BOOKED solid the week of my wedding and the only option is the Sunday before. Thoughts? Thanks guys, with 18 days to go this hair is driving me crazy!!

I prefer real hair but depending on your style I hear a lot of brides that choose synthetic and have no problems. I remember you mentioning that you wanted to keep your costs low and for a good sew in with good quality hair you could spend over $300

One option is clip in extensions. You do not damage your hair and you can easily take them out and enjoy your honeymoon.  I used youtube and found out how to sew the wig clips to the hair track and made my own. It was so easy and I spent less than $50 for everything.

I just got my first sew in a few weeks ago when I did my hair trial.  I love it.  It's Indian Remy something or other. TyBoyd's Pastor Babe told me what I needed to get.  FI's cousin put it in for me and will be doing my hair the day of.  He left my hair out all the way around the edges, so I can pull it back or put it up without seeing the braids or tracks.  I just relaxed my edges yesterday as a matter of fact and it all held up very well.

Make sure you get human hair.  You want to be able to put a curling iron in it without it melting.  It costs more, but it's worth it.  Something that matches your hair texture.  If you are natural, stay away from that silky indian stuff or people will really be able to tell your hair from the weave.

Edit.... I meant to say that I got Yaki. They had silky and yaki. (couldn't think if that when I originally posted)  Lol!

    GL!!

Yours came out really good.  I'm getting one put in at the end of the month.  I wanted a new look. I can't wait.  Did you relax your entire head before putting it in?

Any type of Remy hair is fine although it can be quite pricey. I have had 2 sewin's. For my 1st I used Indi Remi and I LOVED it, it lasted a long time and barely tangled   ($90) the 2nd I used Saga Gold Remy this was good ($70), but I find that it tangles alot. You should be fine getting it a week before your wedding.
Total cost for my sewins range from $75-$125 (because I get partial sew ins which leave a portion of my hair out)

<div>Thanks!  My relaxer was about 3 weeks old when I got it put in, so I didn't do anything until yesterday.  I go to the gym pretty regularly, so the front was starting to swell.  I just relaxed the edges all around.</div>

@ simbidi - I love your hair! You can't even tell it's a weave, it looks very natural. I'm definitely getting extensions for my day-I need the length and volume

I wear sew ins all summer long from April to November every year. I am natural and my hair swells in the summer no matter how trained I have it. I usually use Remi yaki hair as well and each pack does cost around $90 or more. I get some left out in the back and at the top. The pics of me I posted a few posts down about being blogged for my engagement pics is a sew in with the top out.

I have also done invisible parts which i do like they just grow out so fast and then i don't like how it looks so i get that when I am only planning to wear it for a little while but I usually keep my sew ins for at least 2 months.

HTH and post a pic when you have one.

If you aren't used to sew ins I think geting it done on Sunday is a perfect idea...for one usually the braids are so tight it takes a little while for your hair to relax...or maybe that's just me lol

The great thing is you can leave it in for a month. If you buy Remy hair then you can wash it etc and not worry about it looking crazy later but if you want to save money then get Milky Way or Sensual they are decently priced and last for 2 weeks easily. But for the wedding I suggest Remy.

If you want a more natural look get you hair pressed and have fusion extensions done they are pricey about 200 dollars but they add to the length and are fused to the ends of your natural hair, then you can part it or comb it however you want with no tracks

I was pondering this same question do a sew in or a the quick weave thing.

@MsAmeera25 what is this fushion thing your talking about? Have you ever had that done? Does it hurt like the sew ins?

Fusion is a type of glue but it isn't bonded to your scalp like a track, and its a non abrasive glue...it doesn't hurt at all. It's expensive but i can leave mine in for 3 months...wash it and everything I love fusion cause it looks soooo natural.

Ok So I usually get a full sew in. I like all my hair to be up and away. For the wedding I MAY get my front out...MAY But I say get it early so it can settle. The first few days the weave is tight and kinda sits on your head, mine always looks better at least a week later so it settles.

So for the wedding I say get it early and let it get settled. I say purchase a medium price hair.. if it is your first experience. ( I cant remember from your post) do not cut costs on hair because your don't want some crazy mess that cannot be curled or gets tangled and crazy.

I cant tell you a brand because I usually buy my hair from a place in L.A. that just sales it in bulk.

Really, you may be able to do it it two weeks in advance, let her practice the wedding style on you and go back in two weeks to let her do the real deal.

    Good luck!

I got my first sew-in a few days before the wedding and I loved the way it turned out.  The only problem was I wish I would've gotten it done a week before instead of 2 days before because my hair was still tight and it pulled my eyes a bit to where I looked Blasian (black and asian!).  I got a full weave since I have a natural and didn't want to have to constantly straighten my hair and damage it from everyday heat.  I got a silk based closure, which in my opinion is the best type of closure because you can part it and it looks like your scalp.  I still have it in after a month and 2 weeks and it still looks great.  I got my hair from glamremyspot.com after watching a review on youtube and I got the 14" coarse relaxed Indian Remy.  I know a lot of people like virgin Remy but I ordered a sample of it and I didn't like the texture of it at all because it was way way too silky and I think that the coarse relaxed felt more like relaxed black hair.

I'm not going to lie, the silk based closure wasn't cheap at all.  It's cost you about $120-$140, but I think it was worth it because it looks really natural for a full sew-in.  Plus I plan to reuse it when I get another sew-in.  The rest of the hair cost $70 per 2 oz and I got a total of 4 oz (2 bags) of hair.

Wow that was super helpful guys, thanks so much. I am going to talk with her and see about the fusion and the silk based closure.
