Results aside...how do you feel about Melanie testing Derwin's baby? Under the same circumstances, would you have done that? If so, why? If not, why and what would you have done differently?

I would have asked for a DNA test but when you really think about it, i would have cut him off when i found out he cheated on me.. if i aint good enough for you then bounce and dont let the door hit you on the arse when you pass thru....

Personally, I felt where Melanie was TRYING to go with testing the baby and I definitely felt where she was coming from. She was trying to protect herself, her man, and she did what she felt she had to do.

I would have done things differently.

Most importantly, I would have insisted upon a DNA test right away...at the hospital on the day he was born. Why wait if you're already unsure?

What did you ladies think? Can anyone relate?

Unlike the majority of you on the other thread...I loved the show. It gave me way to much to process at one time, but I need all of that drama to hold me over til next week. It took time to develop initially so I'm sure after a few episodes, it will fall into place. Please keep watching so that we don't lose the show again!

That's exactly what I was thinking. I would ask my man to insist on the testing, rather than sneak and do it myself. Why get attached to the child for all this time if you're unsure? Melanie put herself in such a messed  up position now. Also, I can't understand why she would discuss her huband's business with his mom AND the white girl BEFORE discussing it with her husband.

I was SO EXCITED when it wasn't his! I just knew that would bring on a twist. Because if I were Melanie, I'd be pissed that he was with her during all the pregnancy, going to doctors visits, LEAVING ME AT THE ALTER to go be there with Janae.... But oh well, I don't write the show.

@ eagles I agree with you 100%... get the test from the jump so you wouldn't have any doubts about it... but I understand why she did... two years just seems like a long time to wait for it... but... we were gone from them for two years so I suppose it had to happen now...lol.  IDK if I could deal with the baby. I would really really try but I know it would be hard.

What she needs to do is tell him next episode from the jump so that they can move forward, but that's probably not gonna happen.

@ty: Girl I was soooo happy and then my heart dropped when her little ditzy friend called back and said she was wrong. I guess it was just too good to be true for Melanie.

Anywho, I liked the show for the most part. I think I hyped myself up for it so much that I had an initial disappointment reaction. But I agree that it got better as the episode went on and I am looking forward to next week.

Another thing: Derwin acting like it didn't matter if it was his or not... IDK why it wouldn't matter!!! If the baby wasn't his, there would be NO WAY that we would continue to support the kid financially. Sorry. Go find your real baby daddy and let him handle that. That might be shallow on my part, but that's how I feel.

Janay is shady in her own right so who knows what we will find out about her. As for Derwin not wanting to know...I was PISSED for Melanie about that one. Attached, I get...but clueless, no sir.

FI and I got back together when his sons mother was 4 months pregnant. They had broke up before he found out she was pregnant and she didn't tell him until she was 4 months. By then we were back together and in love so she could not get her hooks in him. She told him about the baby after she found out we were back together so naturally we got a DNA test as soon as the baby came out.

I love FI's son as if he were mine since I was there since he was born. Melanie should have gone about this a total different way. Men respect honesty as do women and just like Melanie would want Derwin to be honest with her she should be honest with him.

Tasha was right about what she was saying to Melanie when she was talking about painting that picture with the spec. I don't look at Ryan as a spec I look at him as some extra added light to the photo but that damn baby mama can kick rocks with no socks. She couldn't be me if she tried but she is too mad at me for what I have with my FI and what I have with her son. I would never let the baby disrespect her but he would much rather be here with us than there with her.

Sorry to bring you guys into my life drama but I see so much of my situation in this show and that is why I like it so much. This episode was a lot to deal with and it did seem like everyone had an attitude problem but I will surely keep watching to see how thing unfold!

Im confused...how to do a paternity test wrong? If you can't even do that right..you should be fired!! How you call one day saying he's not the father then call the next and say it is...what kind of dr are you if you can't do a simple paternity test!

All I can say is Wow!. I would have been honest and suggested it in the beginning as others mentioned before when the child was born that way we would all be on the same page since obviously if it is his child, him nor his mother would be going anywhere.

I will say after I found out it was indeed his I would have fessed up immediately and just said "baby, I know you are going to be upset but that was so-and-so on the phone and she said the inital results were incorrect and he is indeed your child. I'm sorry for putting you through all of this but we needed to know." Then let the chips fall where they may.

Can't wait to see what else unfolds. OAN: I watched 106 & Park before the show aired and am sooooo excited for Tia and her husband expecting their first child!

this if i was melanie i would have walked away whn he cheated.kellie is a hot mess she dresses horrible now and her hair .the writers suck on this one so much mess going on.I hope it gets better.

Personally Derwin could have kicked rocks when he got her pregnant. I was so over him and Janae a long time ago. My EX-husband got a chick pregnant on me and I did not know about it until the kid was here. But 24 hours later, him and I were a wrap, lmao! I don't do look backs onthat level lmao. Sometimes Melanie pisses me off to no end. I'm like hunti you are getting your medical degree. let him go on and throw his lil football and keepit pushing. Now WTH is wrong with Malik???? He cannot do the li homie TeeTee like that, and I think he is probably going togo snitch on him and Parker. And where is RICK. FOX.

I was initially disappointed by the show, but I will absolutely support to make sure they stay on.  I think it will get better.

Now onto Derwin and Melanie. Melanie should have insisted on a DNA test immediately after DJ was born.  But what I really don't understand is why Derwin wouldn't want one himself????  I don't get it when guys would rather not know and just take care of a baby that may not be theirs.  I have seen this with A LOT of guys and it boggles my mind.  Is it an ego thing, like it would bruise his ego if he found out it wasn't his and he has already invested time/money in preparing for the baby's arrival?  Or is it just that they have already gotten attached to the idea of having this baby and they can't bear to find out whether its really theirs?  

That is something I wish someone could explain to me!

Exactly!!!!!!! That's not a little mistake..."oops...I was tired." If she was so tired, she shouldn't have made the phone call in the first place.  That's where DH and were staring at the TV saying that the writers screwed up.

Melanie knows she was wrong for testing that baby without her husband knowledge. The lies is what is going to ruin her relationship! She should have realized that once she married Derwin she accepted the fact that her man has a son with someone else. I know if I was in that situation it would be more than a hard pill to swallow.

To Derwin's defense he did not cheat on Melanie with Janae. Dewrin and Melanie broke up and they both were in their own relationships. Melanie and Derwin found out Janae was pregnant after Derwin broke up with Janae and then Melanie and Derwin decided to get back together.

Derwin DID cheat on Melanie with that singer chick Sedora (sp?) but heck they both did a whole bunch of crazy mess to each other.

I know I would make sure  my husband and I  found out right after the baby was born whether the baby was his or not. I am sorry to say it but there are a lot of trifflin females out here that have no problem lying about a situation like this

To all those attacking her friend for the paternity test. I wouldnt fault her. You all have forgotten that her friend is a resident in Genetic Research meaning she is just starting off with doing DNA samples.  That was Melanie's mistake in choosing to have her friend whose a resident run those tests.  The other thing you all need to see is that mistakes like that happen a lot.  They may not be out in the open but it occurs.  The writers didn't mess up. It made complete sense.

Sorry this is a Med Student speaking on this. Just looking out.

I'm not the best GAME follower...But...Melanie had her chance to accept the situation at the beginning... if she couldnt accept it in the beginning.. then she couldnt accept it... and that's fine.. but once she made that decision, she should have stood by it... no-matter how hard it was...even if she had doubts...

Now, with that said.....when you do bootleg stuff... you get bootleg results... She set herself up for that one... If she was gonna go thru the trouble of having the test at all, she should have gotten it done properly and reliably... Not the x-classmate at the lab kind of BS.... "When you buy junk...you get junk"

Now, she has exposed her relationship to a whole new set of problems because she is gonna have to tell him that the child is his... either now or later...

As a pp said, Derwin didn't cheat on Melanie w/ Janae. It was with the singer he did the music video with. However, getting someone pregnant while we're "taking a break" would crush me. And honestly, I don't know if I could deal with that whole situation (never know til you're in those shoes!)

Would I have done a secret paternity test, maybe....especially if the guy was dragging his feet with getting it done. If the woman had a so-called history of being "loose", it may be necessary. However, gotta prepare for the guy being pissed about it. Doing this could possibly break up the relationship/ marriage.

IMO, usually a guy doesn't want to know the paternity out of fear of getting results they're not the father. This is especially if the guy is already attached to the child.

I can some what understood where Melanie coming from, my fi have 2 little boys, even though he had them before we got together and i love those boys to death they are mine in my eyes.

If i remember correctly she tried to get him to get the baby tested but derwin was not trying to hear it so im sure he would have said no when the baby popped out.

I would have got the baby tested anyway ASAP i wouldn't have waited to years two get it done and i would have told my little friend to double check it anyway to make sure it would have been any problems like that especially since she was still in school her self.
