DIY

are there any DIY brides?
and what are you DIY, if anything?

I'm doing my own invitations, I REFUSE to pay $1000 for the invites I want. It is just paper and I'm so picky.
I'm doing my own STD, the idea I got out of theknot magazine, super easy I'm able to do all 150 for under 60 bucks
We are doing our own wedding favors. We found an idea on a website since we are doing a rustic chic wedding for homemade ice cream favors that are so adorable *and cheap* but look expensive.

hmmm...i feel like brainstorming.

    I will.
The STD's are so super simple. FI and I will be able to finish those in like...a day.
The favors...well FI is more excited about making them than I am because it's kinda like a little "science experiment". I showed him the idea and he was like "Yeaaaaa!" Plus him a little greedy piggy too so I think the ice cream got him excited ;)

The invites...are the only thing I'm worried about. I'm MORE picky about them than my dress. A shame. lol

Besides a "rustic chic" wedding is focused on combining homemade and vintage/rustic elements with more elegant and modern features. Its a mix-match so the DIY touches will blend well. But if I were doing a very formal event...No Way would I be doing anything myself!

I designed my STDs and ordered them thru Vista Print, 50 for less than $30. I designed my invitations and will be doing those.

    All other paper stuff
    Card box
    Guestbook
    Seating chart
Probably some other stuff I can't remember. You can check out my blog. I'll be going back and adding instructions on how I did everything.

I am doing my centerpieces only. I would love to do my invites but I am scared stiff to make mistakes. I think they would be more costly in the end. So we are paying for them instead.

I am DIYing my rehearsal dinner invitations and am assembling my invites myself (including the belly bands). I didn't design them, but still...this is big for me. I'm not the most crafty individual and I'm way too picky to DIY much.

    Ok, here's what I DIY:

    STDs
    Invitations
    Programs
    Menu Cards
    Centerpieces
    My bouquet, bouts, corsages
    Table runners
    Favors
Most of the ceremony decorations (bows, trees, wreaths, etc.)

    I think that's everything......

I have yet to get started on anything, so we shall see what all I end up actually DOING! LOL But so far I'd like to DIY the following:

    STDs
    Programs
    Table Numbers
    Escort Cards
    Hangers (cute idea on weddingbee)
Gift bags (most of the guests are OOT)
Menus (if applicable, might do a buffett)
    Some decorations

That's all I can think of. I had the crazy idea to do my own cake...yeah...I know...LOL

It seems a lot of people are comfortable with doing the "paper" projects themselves. I know I am because I'm so tedious...lol. And I'm starting like in January so I'll do about 30 a month which gives me more than enough times to get them out before October 22nd.

I commend those who do their own centerpieces and JEWERLY!!! I'm not creative like that *sad face*. If it weren't for my mother, paying for and coordinating, I would not even have flowers at my wedding. *not a fan!*

The better question would be what am I not DIYing.

I'm doing ALL of the paper items (except for the design which was offered to me for FREE), the centerpieces, the ceremony arch, the favors, the hairpieces, my bouquet (BMs won't be carrying bouquets), the chargers (spraypainted into a color in my color scheme).

I'm basically purchasing everything. The only vendors I plan on having are a caterer (food and service only, alcohol will be provided by me), photographer, videographer, DJ, officiant, and DOC. Everything else will be done by me.
