Venue Update and Possible Date Change

Sorry I haven't been posting regularly! My laptop charger broke and I just got a new one!

If you all recall, I was confused about venues last week. I went back to the first venue we ever visited last Wednesday after getting my hair done. I was talking to the lady that we originally met with and she informed me that she was retiring in December and opening her own venue, in downtown Houston. She told me that we could come by on Saturday.

Saturday, FI and I went downtown to the venue. They are still setting things up, as they haven't opened yet. {Their 1st event is on 10-30-10} BUT OMG, the place is beautiful! She told me that for 100 ppl, she'd work it out where we would be paying no more than $6k, but she would email me all the figures.

The price will include the ceremony and reception room, bridal room, all linens including chair covers and sashes {in any colors}, silverware and glassware, food {fruit trays and seated dinner}, all florals, centerpieces, cake, candy buffet, DJ, valet parking, set up and breakdown... EVERYTHING! All we'd have to get it a photographer and videographer! She's going to try to work with the downtown Hilton to get discounts for brides that book with them.

I'm so in love with the place!!! I didn't take a camera with me, sorry. It's so elegant! There's a little bridge in there with water under it and water shooting up. They are going to put fish in it.

I LOVE THIS PLACE! Only problem is now I'm going to have to redesign my fun invitations and monogram because this place is so elegant. And I have to figure out how I want to do my programs, since I originally wanted fans.

I also want to change the date to the 29th, the day before Memorial Day. The only reason I picked the 15th is because the 29th was booked at the other venue.

I have NEVER been this excited about the wedding. I'm so glad FI suggested I go back to the 1st place! {I'll go back later and take pics!}

Those are cute! It shouldn't be too hard to change the fun to modern.

A little FYI if those are completely square it will be about $1.05 per invite. Those look like the same size invites I had, the size was slightly over so they charge more for it. The post office said I could try it with a 61 cent in stamps but they may return them, I didn't want ti take that chance so I paid the extra

THANKS! They aren't a square though. I know the postage on square is a lil higher and I'm not interested.  lol

Please do dont give her any money. yet.

<div>I never though of it like that. But she has plenty money. I've liked her since day one. She's been in the business for over 10 years and she's also worked in the floral industry. I work at BMW and I don't recommend anyone buy a car from them. I look at it like this: why sell someone something when you have something better to offer? And she has something better to offer. But I do understand where you're coming from. We haven't signed anything yet. {And the place she works at, I really didn't want my wedding there anyway, I was just going back because FI wanted to.}</div><div>
</div><div>And thank you. Hopefully I can alter them. If not, I'll just have someone on ETSY design them.</div>

Like the invites.  Just a word of wisdom:  if you're assembling them yourself, give yourself plenty of time.  I've started assembling mine this week now my sister's wedding is out the way (which was soo much fun).  Since I don't have any help, (mainly because I want them perfectly straight and cannot trust anyone else to glue them together), I'm doing the project in phases so I don't get too overwhelmed.

I wish you the best on your venue.  I wish I could change mine but I'm too close to the wedding date and I have too many executed contracts out there (caterer, bakery, etc.)

Thanks you. As soon as everything is in STONE, I'll start working on the invites. I don't want help with mine either because I know no one cares about them like I do.

Thanks, I hope it works out well! I love that place! It's on Austin street near the Toyota Center. Where's your wedding?

I do agree with Shaq, but sounds like you done your research, comfort with her as a individual and you love the place.  All you need to do is take some time to really think about it and follow your heart. Please post pictures soon, because I feel the excitement beeming through the knot at how excited you are about this place.  Smile

    What you said makes sense...

My mother and stepdad have one and they drove it down to NC last year.  Stepdad locked the key in the car and BMN wanted some ridiculous amount to get them a new key. I ended up getting the spare key from their house and fedexing it because it ws cheaper.  I thought that was kind of weird considering it is a luxury car.  I thought the customer service would be a little better.
