So if you ladies remember, my great uncle will be doing the catering.

He is here for our annual family reunion and he said that we will come up with a menu by Monday.

Any suggestions ladies?

Just think it will be on a nice summer evening.

I am trying to think OUTSIDE of the box...I dont want the standard wedding food...ya know?

PLEASE HELP!!!

There was a thread where we all posted our wedding menus - is there a way to search for that?  B/c people had some GREAT menus posted in that thread!

in terms of what you want to have, what's your favorite kind of food?  what about your FI's?  i would go from there.

this is what we're having.  it's by no means fancy, but i think we're be able to feed everyone.  i know my side of the family...we love to eat!  LOL

two types of alfredo, one chicken & other shrimp
chicken drummies, probably fried, bbq and regular
    sliced beef brisket
cold pesto pasta salad (vegan option)
    fruit & cheese platter
    veggie platter
    rolls & crackers
    condiments for the brisket

    various sushi rolls
spinach and artichoke dip (served warm)
mini lamb chops w/ mint dressing
    mini beef wellington
curry goat (FI family is from the islands)

    some of my favorite ideas:

    Mashed potato bar
tomatosoup shooters with mini grilled cheese
Sushi is always good like PP said but it gets super pricey!

    what's your wedding theme?

You guys are making me hungry. The mashed potato bar sounds great.  The little tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches sound so cute.  I like pairings like that and oreo cookies and a little glass of milk.

We just did heavy hors d'euvres because the reception was in the middle of the afternoon and...well...because it was less expensive.  LOL We had a pretty well rounded menu I think.  We served:

    spinach/artichoke dip with pita points
    crab stuffed mushrooms
    shrimp cocktail
samosas (they're like Indian egg rolls kinda with lentils and curry seasoning) with Mango Chutney
    fruit and cheese platter
    Parmessan Puffs with Chicken Salad

Everyone seemed to enjoy the food.  If I had a larger budget I would have like to have had different stations like stir fry station, sushi, etc.  Another good option that's not your typical wedding food is sliders and fries.  I think that's cute and unexpected for a summer wedding.
