First DIY projects- PIP

Hey yall

So I am far from a crafty person but since I'm on a budget I have to force myself to be crafty.

Here is the 1st pomander ball I made. My MOH hates it lol- glad she is honest. I feel it just need a lil tweaking. I think the ribbon needs to be a lil longer and thinner and I also think I should have cut the tissue paper into a circle shape to make it look more realistic. Let me know what you think- open for ideas.

The next is a kind of a mock of my centerpeice- but the centerpeice will actually be a large martini glass that the hotel provides. This was the only bowl I had laying around. I got some white beads and a led light and did one drop of food coloring. The picture actually looks darker than what it is. The water is similar to the color of the ball. Total price paid $1.00. The only thing I had to purchase was the light.

I will be using the flowers below for the men's for the mens boutonnieres. They were white and I dyed them yellow. I'll have to post pics once I make them. Dont judge the knives in the sink ha.

I'm trying to figure out how to make this sign- Help me

That is all for now Ladies.. What yall think

  • You can get a wooden board from Micheals, draw out the stencil with pencil and then paint in the color you want. You would have to paint the background of the board first.

  • Tone for somebody who said they weren't creative, you're doin it.  {pumps fist}.  If i get to vote, the only thing I would do is sub real roses for the ones you used.  kroger, whole foods, your local korean grocer, have real (already yellow lol) flowers in bloom for less than 9 bux a bunch.   Cha was the queen of all things stationaire dahlink, she may have a template for the sign.  Throw a bat signal in the air see if you don't see a cape flappin around any second nah.  good luck!  and we. love. pictures!!

This! Pahahahahaha!!! Too funny! I actually do not have a template for a sign. I like MrsSmith idea! You can also use vista print to make a small sign...another knottie did that for her here comes the bride sign. Or if you are on a strict budget, get a colored poster board, cut it the size you need and use stencils for the wording. For designs, you can use stensils again or you can glue flowers around it. In the center of the flower put a brooch or rhinestone in the center. If you have access to a projector....copy your stencil on transparency paper put it on the projector and focus it in to the size you want design to be. I'm assumming any school or teacher would have access to a projector do they still make those?!?!

Cha flying away stage left LOL!

  • I actually like the pomander..i think if you make it a little fuller and the ribbon thinner it will be perfect.

  • The Pomander could have a longer ribbon and thinner like you said.  I wish I could see the actual centerpiece glasses you are using.  Your mock up seems a little dark, but if it is lighter like you said then it should be ok.
