Trash the Dress?

Alright, when I 1st heard this idea I was naseaus.  But.... I'm thinking that I really want pics with my dogs in my wedding gear and I know they won't behave at the venue.  Does having the trash the dress session at a dog beach a few days after the wedding sound cool?

Are any of you planning a trash the dress session?  What are you doing for it?

I like the idea, but I just can't justify ruining a perfectly good, and expensive dress that could be sold, donated or saved.

I totally agree - I'm not planning on ruining it any more that I will have ruined it at the wedding.  I do think it's a neat idea to do something more relaxed in the dress and I've heard it described it that way, too.  If it's super rainy I'm not going to do it but if I get lucky and have a good weather forecast I think I'm going to. Afterwards I will have my dress cleaned and preserved.

I'm undecided....I like the idea, but I don't know what I would do, in October.

A really like this photographer's trash the dress session: Kylie Danielson.  The photos are intermixed in the album.  the TTD session are the pictures where her hair is down and short.

I agree with pp. Understand the how it might feel so good to get frustrations out but after the money and dedication, there's no way I could ruin my dress!

If you check over on the Seattle Bump boards, the ladies over there are planning a big TTD session for sometime in September. They did one last year too.

From what I've heard people don't always ruin the dress- most often it's just a casual setting (yes, sometimes a little dirty, but depending on the fabric it can be cleaned just fine).  I think the idea of the contrast between the super fancy dress with a super casual scenery is fun if you want to do it.

While I often think the TTD pictures can be really awesome, like PP, it distresses me to think of something so expensive being deliberately destroyed rather than reused via donation/resell, etc. However, TTD like you describe, where it's just that you aren't being all crazy delicate with it, but just getting some pictures where it possible could get dirtier (like with your dogs) sound okay to me since it will most likely able to be cleaned.

I'm really liking reading all of your opinions.  There are definitely some good points there! I love my wedding dress and I want to keep it, even just to look at it hanging in my closet in the years to come.  I thought it was interesting when I was reading about the TTD sessions that most of them aren't really "trashing" the dress.  I've read that they are also called Rock the Frock and something else catchy that is clearly not catchy enough since I can't remember it.

My TDD session comes with my wedding photo package.  Though, at the moment I'm not entirely thrilled with my photographer so I'm not sure if I'm gong to even want to spend another day adding to his portfolio cause frankly, I think the pics with my dogs will be rad, I may be a little biased though.
