Should I do what I want or make everybody else happy?

Hey ladies hope everybody's wedding planning is going awesomely! So this Friday is my bachelorrette party in Dallas, Tx my sister so graciously decided to pay for everything but the other ladies meals so here is the problem. A few months ago she asked me where I wanted everybody  to go eat and I immediately jumped at going to Fogo De Chao its a Brazilian steakhouse that is off the chain in my book, that cost maybe $60.00 to eat there. But now that we are a few days away my MOH who has never been there is making little smart comments about the price and about how things work there. Basically she is making me feel like I am not thinking about anybody else but myself and now I am thinking about just going to the CheeseCake Factory(I have never eaten here before) to avoid any smart remarks and ruining my night....so my question is should I do what I want to do or make everybody else happy?

Two thoughts on this for me.  First, since you told her you wanted to go to Fogo De Chao (which I agree is FANTASTIC - Yummy!!) and  if she had notified everyone about your choice, then I think there was ample time to prepare for the cost.   No one should be grumbling or be surprised.  Second, if people aren't prepared then maybe going to Cheesecake Factory is the solution.  Cheesecake Factory is one of my favorite restaurants and the food is delicious with plenty of options in different price ranges.  In this case, I think you will be happy either way.

This is a tough situation. Did you give her enough notice that you wanted this restaurant?

If she is the only one complaining than I would hold firm to what I want. But if everyone can't afford it than you might want to change. When I was in college and broke, if friends wanted to go to a nice steak house I would eat before I left and order an appetizer and water for $10. I always tried to show my support and did what I could afford.

I went to Fogo De Chao last week for the first time here in Philly. I went during Restuarant week so we didnt have to pay $60pp price tag. Since we are in a recession and times are hard for many people ( I know you've probably heard that enough) could you possibly find something less expensive that "everyone including you" could enjoy?

I agree with PP if she is the only one complaining then stand firm and possibly offer to cover half???

If everyone is complaining then try cheesecake...Its one of my favorite places and there is a variety of different price points as well... Maybe you and your sister can go to the original restaurant together another time and do cheesecake with everyone else.

Agree with PP.  If you gave ample notice to them then go to Fogo de Chao.

But to end all the talking by her or anyone else I would go with the Cheesecake Factory, more food options at lower prices.

They just opened a Fogo de Chao here, I will go during restaurant week next year, $60 pp is pricey with the holidays coming up.

Thanks ladies for the advice....I decided to just go to the Cheesecake Factory since none of us have been there and it'll be a new experience for everybody as well as a variety of prices.
