Ladies,
I had the most wonderful wedding weekend ever! Everything went so perfectly! So I will do a day by day summary…
Thursday: I met up with a few of my BMs to get our nails down and then we went to lunch and some of us went to get our hair straightened. We had so much fun the entire day and the experience at the hair salon was just like icing on the cake. My stylist had us rolling the entire three hours we were there.
Friday: DH and I loaded up the car to drive down to Athens (our wedding was semi-destination.. but not really). We had so much stuff in that car that I had to hold stuff on my lap and I was not feeling it at all! We finally got down to Athens and ran some errands to drop the linens and table numbers off to the caterer, etc. Then I had to get ready to head to the bridesmaids luncheon which was wonderful! Some of my BMs were running late but it all worked out because that eliminated the chance of them being late to the rehearsal. After the luncheon, we went to the hotel to check in. The girls loved the suite! From there we went to the church and began rehearsal. Of course, there were some late people including two GMs and my parents, but everyone eventually got there and we were rolling. It was funny though cause SIL wanted to walk with one particular GM and everyone was asking about this GM at the reception the next day too.
After rehearsal, was the rehearsal dinner that MIL planned and cooked for. It was so wonderful! DH is Kenyan and so I knew there would be Kenyan food (which there was an abundance of) but they also had some surprises up their sleeves in the form of traditional gifts. I was so excited and honored! I felt so special! They gave me traditional handbags, jewelry, serveware, etc. We had to take the gifts to the hotel in a suitcase. It was so wonderful. And for the first time I really did feel welcomed into the family. I guess they were just waiting for it to be official.LOL…
Friday night: My BMs kidnapped me and took me to Walmart, for what I do not know… but they made me sit in the trunk of the SUV and thought it was so funny. When we finally got back to the hotel I invited my little cousins down cause they love to dance and are so entertaining. We danced all night long! We were so sore! They taught us some of their little dances from Florida like “clap dem thighs” and "TheWop”… it was so much fun.
Saturday: We woke up and danced some more… idk why??? LOL… Amazingly enough all my vendors arrived on time (or a few minutes late due to traffic). It was truly a blessing. The hairstylist and make-up artist that I had come was just wonderful! She took me into the bedroom kicked everyone out except for the photographer/videographer and gave me a back and neck massage, went over some breathing treatments and prayed for me. It was so good because DH and I had been fasting for everything to go perfect this day and it was all happening. God is so good! Once we were all ready we hopped on the trolley and rode to the church. Our ceremony started exactly at 3:30pm and I couldn’t have been more pleased! Just about everything in the ceremony went well. I wasn’t nervous at all and I was so excited to see DH standing at the other end of the aisle. He was balling! I mean face covered with tears, it was so sweet!
The reception was the bomb! The dancing portion was on point! Even my grandma danced and she never dances! Just picture an almost 80 year old woman getting down on the dance floor to the point where everyone was screaming “Go Grandma, Go Grandma”!!! Then my MOH who is Nigerian started spraying my grandmother with money and she dived to get at the money. It was too funny! The next day she was so sore! We didn’t end up doing the sparkler exit like I wanted but that day it didn’t even matter. It is definitely true that things you thought were must-haves tend to go to the wayside on the day of.
The honeymoon was also wonderful! I am sitting in the airport waiting on our flight back to Atlanta. I have just had a wonderfully blessed couple of weeks! Thanks for all of the love, support, and encouragement!
Here are some pictures to look at. We are still waiting on our pro pics but here is the link to the sneak peek (Joseph and Stacie) www.fixedfocal.net. And here are some non-pro pics that some friends have posted on facebook.
