My wedding day was yesterday and overall, it was fantastic! Our guests had a blast - it was the party of the year for them!
Some things went wrong...
- My dad put on his own playlist for cocktail hour and I didn't realize (due to family photos) until the hour was almost over and I was like "umm....what is playing!? This is not a musical." So I only heard about two of my songs from that playlist. Plus, during my dad's speech, he did a slideshow of photos and video of me...and it was not funny. It was pretty horrible.
- Everything was running late. Cocktail hour went late, dinner went late, we did our first dance late, and toasts went on for about 20 minutes, so the band played a lot less than I was hoping. And since the band was about the best part of the night, that wasdisappointing. The band seriously let my aunt and uncles play a song on their instruments (they used to be in a band) and two of the groomsmen play a song, which was the highlight of the night and totally spontaneous!!
- During family photos, which were done by one of the giant window, we were trying to close the curtains, and the curtain and rod just fell on all of us. Very Phantom of the Opera... Thank God my hair stayed in place and no one got hurt.
- I had an ipod for our special songs of the night and for the garter toss, I apparently forgot to put the song on it... Whoops! But luckily, FI had it on his iphone, so he went and got it!
- The candles for our centerpieces were not staying lit.
- My bouquet was already bruised when it was delivered to me and the florist forgot the drowned flowers, so they had to take some from the centerpieces.
- The cake was a real disappointment. It was waaay sweeter than when we did tastings - I absolutely hated one flavor out of the three. And one of the flavors they "ran out of" yet when I looked at the leftovers packed for us today, there's practically the entire bottom tier of the cake leftover.... Not cool. When you tell the bride that there's none left besides the ten pieces on the table, then you pack up most of the frickin bottom layer of the cake...yeah, not cool at all.
So, yeah, some things went wrong. But our ceremony was beautiful. Everyone loved the food, the band, and the photobooth. I felt sooo rushed. I wasn't really able to drink much at all (although everyone else got sloshed), and the night was really a whirlwind. You get pulled in so many different directions and it's so hard to take everything in. But we were smiling and dancing and having a blast the entire night! It was really great and now we're off to Australia and New Zealand!!
I'll post vendor reviews when I get back!
