Timeline

I am so confused on what time I want my wedding to start. I am thinking either 4 or 5 pm. I want a nice evening feel at the church and we also want to have people party all night. Starting at 5. I think 7:30-8 is late for dinner although there will be food and drinks at the cocktail hour. Then should we get all the "formalities" out of the way in the beginning in case people want to leave ( cake cutting, toast, 1st dance) I need help lol

Re: Timeline

  • I think 4 is a good time but what time do you want it to end ? My ceremony is at 3 reception is from 530 til 10p .
  • I think 3 or 4 is a great time to start that way the party starts at a good time of the evening and you can end it at 11 or 12 depending on your venue

  • yes.. I think that is a good time.

I think it depends on where you are having the wedding, and how long you want things to go on.

for us.. our wedding is in Vegas.. ceremony is at 7pm..guests will go to the reception suite around 7:30-8:30 and then we will get there around 8:30 and everything will be done at midnight... Just enough time for people to go back to their hotel rooms, go to the casinos, or go out to the clubs...

  • My ceremony will start at 3:30 and end at 4:30. We will do a receiving line and then guest will head over to the reception venue that is about 15 minutes away tops while the wedding party takes pic, the cocktail hour will take place from 5:306:30. Seating for dinner will begin at 6:30 and served by 7, following our grand entrance not sure what that is just yet. I have not decided if we will do the first dance/cake cutting first or wait until after dinner. What are you ladies planning? The reception will end at 12am because we plan to party the night away.
  • Shay, I think that's a good timeline for you. I got all the "formalities" out the way for our wedding within the first 45 minutes to an hour. Butler passed appetizers were served while guests waited for us while we were taking our pics (my ceremony and reception were at the same venue). After all the formalities, we ate and danced. Gave us more time to enjoy the reception with our guests...not having to stop to do one of those "formality things". I found that the guests enjoyed the timeline that way.

  • Don't forget to consider picture time in between ceremony and reception.. We are thinking of  having ours start at 2:30-3:15 and then cocktail at 6. that way if give us picture time.. and travel time.

  • I want the ceremony to end around 12-1 am. My goal is to party all night. I just want the formalities done in case the older people want to leave.
