Does it really matter??!?!?!, dress related!

so FMIL is making a big stink because my dress is white! She insist that since I have kids and FI has kids I should be wearing off white or ivory. I don't think it matters as it's my first wedding I can wear white if I want too.......does it really matter??

I agree with hotrocker2011 it's your wedding so you can wear whatever color you want to wear.... I felt the same way at first and so many people had their opinions because I have a kid which means I'm obviously not pure anymore. But I'm like so what it's my wedding. My Fiance and I are starting our lives together as one neither one of us have been married so this is new and fresh..... So I will be wearing white!!!!! Therefore any of my guest that will have something to say on that day should just keep their mouths closed

I don't think it matters at all.  FI and I have 2 children together, I chose an Ivory gown but only because I like how the ivory looks with my skin tone and light brown hair and plus our rings are gold so I think it all just looks better.  But BES believe if I fell in love with a bright white gown I sure nuf would wear and anyone that had a problem with could keep it to theirselves.  Do what makes YOU happy!!

THIS!!!!!!! I have been married before and I have 2 sons and I am STILL going to wear my white gown, and whoever doesn't like not only can keep their mouth shut, they don't even need to show up! GAH LEEEE!!! All these rules that "they" make up. Someone has yet to tell me who "they" are! LOLOL

Tell her to read her Bible. You're SUPPOSED to wear white. The symbolism represents you being washed and made pure for your bridegroom just as Jesus dying makes us pure and cleansed from sin to be married. (Christ the bridegroom the church the bride) People kill me.

Say what?  Who told her that?  Pul-leeze.  Of course it doesn't matter.  You wear whatever color you want to wear.  End of story.

I agree with all the pp I've never been married or have kids and I'm wearing an ivory dress because I fell in love with how it looked with my skin tone. You can wear whatever you fall in love with.

Oh please.  Tell her to go kick rocks.  The whole white dress = purity thing didn't even start until Queen Victoria wore a white dress on her wedding day.  Before then, women didn't wear white because it was seen as impractical to wear a white dress that was just going to get dirty for one day.  So the dresses that they wore back then weren't even white.  Queen Victoria was considered to be a virgin queen and when she wore a white dress it became a symbol of purity and was made fashionable.

So I say all that to say to wear whatever you want.  It's your day and who gives a rip what someone thinks!

Wear whatever you want to wear. It's your day, wear what makes you happy. Don't say anything to her, she doesn't deserve a response.

Yeh it doesn't matter because if that were true I should be wearing white and I am wearing Ivory. I think thats really outdated and a little agressive, lol!
