Budget woes and school?

I recently found out that I will be losing my job in a few months. Sooo not good for our budget. But I've been meaning to go back to school for several years. I'm worried about adding the stress of going back to college on top of wedding planning, has anyone else done it? Is it that bad?

I haven't done it myself. (I will in a few months, I plan on going back to cc fall quarter.) I was discussing this with a coworker who got married last year and is in night school and she said "it can''t be done." She didn't actually say why when I asked her to elaborate. I am getting a game plan together for later though. and I think it could be done. I think it's all about having a game plan. Planning out your week out for classes, studying, and planning. I work best when I have a schedule (I will freak out without a timeline becuase I'm convinced there will never be enough time to work on something) so I think seeing where you can spend your time planning will be helpful in your case as well.

I am currently working on my Masters in Teaching full time. And I work full time. And I am planning my wedding......

Can it be done? Obviously. Do I recommend it? Not really. Lol. It is a lot of work and honestly the first thing that will probably suffer is your relationship......and your clean house...... :)  Luckily my FI is very supportive and helps out with wedding stuff and household stuff as much as he possibly can. But really, we don't get much time time to ourselves and it is really tough. And very frustrating for me because all I really want to do is spend time with him......not spend hours writing papers.

Time management is definitely the key to your mental health if you decide to do it. You have to really plan a schedule and stick to it......and don't procrastinate on TK Wink

One advantage is that you can usually take out student loans to cover your living expenses, which is a huge reason why so many people are going back to school these days.

You can definitely pull it off if it is what you really want. Just be prepared to sacrifice your free time, at least until one of the things is over and done with. Laughing GL!

Very sorry to hear about the job. Just keep your head up. On going back to school while planning a wedding. I am planning on hopefully *fingers-crossed* taking one class at a time starting in the spring/summer. Just keep to a routine and your mind on the prize and YOU can do it!! Good Luck :)

Thanks ladies. I'm thinking I will take it very slowly at first- start with a few enjoyable classes in the fall, and work my way up to more. Maybe even take off the quarter my wedding will be in....no rush.

That is probably the best idea.....

I don't really have that option.....but that will totally be doable!
