July 2012 Weddings

I am a PW this afternoon

So this morning we had an appointment to apply for our marraige license.  The town where we had to go only does them by appointment and appointments can only be made for Tues and Wed.

I knew an appointment was necessary, but didn't know about the Tues and Wed thing until I called last week.  The woman I spoke with said that they had an appointment already on Tuesday at 10:30am, so how about 11:00am?  Ok sure, fine.  So I took today off of work and let FI know.

We get there at 11:00 am on the dot, go up to the lady at the window and tell her we're here for our appointment.  She looks at us strangely and says, "Oh  you're going to have to reschedule, you were supposed to be here at 10;30am.  We only take appointments on Tuesday and Wednesday's at 10:30am and 2:30pm"

Now the only possible day we had left to do this is today or next Tuesday, but there is a 3 day waiting period so if we didn't get it today and had to wait until next week one of us would have to go to the office to pick up the license the day of our wedding!

I almost went total Zilla on her, and my voice started getting shakey and thought I was going to burst into tears!   I guess she felt bad for us, so she just looked at all of our info to make sure everything looked like it was in order and when she saw we had everything, she told us she could do it then anyway.  Thank god everything worked out!

We then went and met up w/ FI's brother & FMIL for lunch.  FMIL told me word for word about an episode of 4 Weddings, and then was talking about her fugly dress she still plans on wearing for the wedding.

  • Are you getting married in PA??  If so what county because that is insane!
  • Holy cow that's ridiculous. We just had to find an office near us that was open during the hours we were available. There's a 3 day waiting period with ours as well. Good thing she felt for you!

<div>No we're getting married in NJ, but both are now Delaware residents. If the bride or groom are NJ residents they have to go to the township in which they live to apply for their license.  If both bride and groom are out of state residents, you have to go to the town where you are getting married.  Each town has their own rules about how to apply... ie. if an appointment is necessary, days they can apply, etc.</div><div>
    </div><div>NJ is stupid, I'm glad I don't live there anymore!!  HAHAHA  (j/king Jersey ladies!)</div><div>
</div><div>Oh and even better, I knew the license was only good for 30 days but what I didn't find out until today is that it's good for 30 days from the day you pick it up!  So we could have applied for it 6 months ago!</div><div>
</div><div>LOL Glad I only have to do this once!</div><div>
