Reception End Time

I found a place that I like but the reception end time would have to be at 10pm, I am okay with that but my FI wouldn't be because he is use to his family throwing parties that go on until 3am.

Do you think a 10pm end time for a wedding is too early.  When is everyone else planning on ending the reception?

    Girl please my reception is from 3pm-8pm. Just enough time to party with us. His family is the same way always partying until 3am sometimes 5am. Well not this night. Because this is our wedding night and we are not trying to be out all night, we want to get some romance done on our night with just us. That was the plan, but of course his mom had to ruin it, with her afterparty. She is throwing an afterparty at her house which is set up like a club, with a bar. The women is already stocking her bar up wit liquor for it. Uggggg.... but I told him we will go there to change cloths and hang out for an hour or two then we out. Hope that plan goes well!

    I actually wanted mine to end by 10p but with timing it will end at 10:30p.  FI and I both figure we dont want to be too exhausted for each other when everything is said and done.  Folks have been telling me Im wack for ending at 10p but I told them if you have 2.95 per person (100 people) plus gratuity and tax then we can push it back as long as you want.  {Crickets}

    Mine is from 4:00pm to 9:00pm. 5 hrs is more than enough to party and for folks to get home at a decent hour to there families.

    That iis more than enough time! The longer your reception is , the higher the cost...bar, snacks, dj, etc. Head to a designated after party at a club if they want to. You and FI need some time that night!

    I'm having mine end at 11, but the bar closes at 10:30, so people may leave before 11.

    I think 10pm is a good time to end it. Its not too early & not too late.

    My reception is ending at 10pm as well. I thought it would be too early cause me & FI can party late, but he actually said he wanted to end the night early. Go figure...lol!

    Ours Ends at 11:30. Honestly I wanted to have an after party! But after thinking about it (and the budget) we are going to be up all day and have the DJ at the Rehearsal Dinner as well. So I think that 10pm will be fine.

    10pm is fine - remember this is you and your FI's day!  Our wedding starts at 7pm and end at 12am.  But we are leaving our reception early (around 11pm) to spend some QT together!  Wink

    I think 10PM is fine. Ours is over at 11PM, which is early for our friends. So we're doing an afterparty in the bar of the hotel where our reception is being held which is open until 2. Everyone will pick up their own tabs. This also works because the majority of our OOT guests and all of the bridal party are staying at that hotel, so no one has to drive.
