I am finally engaged y'all!! LOL!!! My honey did it on Christmas morning (12 am LOL!) It was crazy because my family knew since OCTOBER!! And I had no idea! Of course they got it on video. I am working on getting it up. But until then, here is a picture!

I am so happy for you. I thought you were engaged already. He had better put a ring on it...I know your credentials and you deserve it. One of my law shool professors always told me that it is important to get married and start a family in order to continue the legacy of educated AA's.

@ Khaliqumbs, You are so silly! LOL!!! We are still going with the date. He will graduate in May 2010 and I don't until May 2012. So we are going with June 2011 to give us time to have the wedding of our dreams and to give him time to have a job. We are really looking forward to starting a family and keeping the legacy alive! LOL!

Well you have time to put away and plan. Yas, the best advise I can give to you is to pay for your wedding in cash. Though we had a destination wedding and only 60 guests, it was still over $150.00 per plate no including all the other expenses relating to our wedding. Because my husband and I like nice things and have great taste we made sure our guests would always remember that day but not at the expensive of our personal saving account.

We came back with no debt! We put all our money in a joint emergency saving account. It really feels great!

Thank you so much for the advice! WOW!!! $150.00 A PLATE!!! DANG! Well I totally understand and my FI and I (Wow that feels good to say LOL!) Have similar taste and really want to pay for everything in cash. Some people may think that we are waiting too long, but we want things how we want it and don't want to be stressed or strained during this process. Especially when we are working on Engineering degrees and careers.

Well, if anyone understands how it is to be in school which seems like forever it's me! Your priorities have to remain in tack despite what people may tell you. We only wanted our close family and friends at our wedding. It was more meaningful for us that way. So we did not mind spending on them because of how much they have been there for us in the past. And to be honest we were totally shocked with the gifts we got since over 40 of them traveled.

Congratuations!! It's about time! :-P Now you are only technically a year and a half from your wedding and it will go by FAST!! I will be enaged for 18 months by the time I get married and a year has already gone by!! Enjoy your enagement and do what you want!
