Place Card Help

I am looking at having place cards made for the reception but am a little confused.  Does each person (including the guest) get a place card or do you make one that says "Mr. and Mrs. XX" or "Mr. XX and Ms. XX" if they're not married?  Some examples have it this way so I'm not really sure whatn protocal is.  Thanks for your help!

    It is my understanding each individual person gets a place card, so you would have one for Mr. Joe Smith and another for Mrs. Jane Smith, etc.

    Yup - it's a place card so it goes for EACH place.

    Thanks ladies.  That is what I thought as well until I was looking at them yesterday online and they had two names on one card; weird.
