Is your dress WHITE white?

I tried on what may be "THE DRESS" (YAY!) and of course most of the ones in the store are ivory/off white. I loved the way it looked but aren't "chocolate" brides supposed to wear white white? Its a couture style similar to alot of the one shoulder dresses I've been seeing on this board. The consultant said usually couture dresses are normally worn in an off color. I tried on a white white dress to compare but I just couldn't get the feel since it wasn't "my" dress. I just wouldn't know which one to order

My dress is 'white white' or diamond white as the store calls it.

The dress I tried on in the store was ivory. So it was a bit of a shock (in a good way) when my dress came in and I put it on. It's a gamble and if your store doesnt carry your dress in both colors, you're kind of taking a chance.

I thought it was called diamond white but I wasn't sure and didn't want to come on here throwing around wrong terms so I used my own version (white white) LOL

hmm. Had no idea, I ended up in a Light Gold dress. It looks more champagne, completely unexpected, but once it was on it was a definite YES!

I am 45 years old and a second time bride, and my dress is WHITE! The dress in the store was ivory, but I wanted white, so I tried on a similar dress in white and was happy with the color on me.

My dress was White White but the sample that I tried on in the store was gold and it looked GREAT too, had a hard time choosing.

Go with the color that makes you feel better. I couldn't try my dress on in white like I said they only had it in gold and it was very hard for me to decide, ultimately H ended my decisiveness and said order the white one even though he hadn't seen it. I didn't feel any different on the day of the wedding but with our color scheme white looked better in the photos.

My dress is bridal ivory. I didn't really like how the white dress looked on me and in the dress I picked so I got the ivory.

I picked an off white dress (you can see it in my siggy) i didnt want a white dress.. I tried on a couple but when i put this one on... i was IN LOVE.

My dress is diamond white. It's between white and ivory. I tried on dresses in all three colors and I liked diamond white the best.

My dress is diamond white w/ silver beading. I agree w/ pp, I think you should go with whatever color makes you feel better.

Put my dress in the snow and it will get lost, it was white white. I was shocked. I hate ivory/off white for me.

@TNMurray You have the type of dress I'm talking about. The one strap, slimming waist, and then full bottom. I don't think white is a problem. I actually went dress shopping alone on this trip because my family can be TOO opinionated. So I will have to try it on again and let them help me weigh in on the color. I think the dress is beautiful no matter what color. Like you all said as well as the consultant, its just a matter of personal preference. Gorgeous dresses you ladies have!

Mine is ivory - I didnt like the way I looked in diamond white. My dress has some lace details, and my consultant said lace in diamond white can sometines look cheap, and I agreed with her. With our coloring (AA brides), we can get away with any shade of white, so it's all about what you like and feel the best in

I chose ivory for my gown based on the fabric because I didn't like the way the white chiffon looked. Depending on the fabric of your gown, satin, chiffon, taffeta, duponi, silk, charmeuse, shantung, etc., the texture of the fabric is going to have a lot of influence on how white your dress will be. That is something to take into consideration when deciding on fabric color in addition to what will compliment your skin tone best.
