HONEYMOONS

Hey Ladies,

I hope you enjoyed your weekend. I was just talking to my FI about our honeymoon which will be in Nassau. We just came back off of a 7 day cruise on the Oasis of the Seas which went to Nassau Bahamas, Virgin Islands and St.Maarten/St.Martin. Even though we didn't get to spend alot of time in Nassau I really enjoyed our trip to the island.

Where are you or did you ladies honeymoon too?

My FI and I met because we are huge Harry Potter fans and our first day was during a Harry Potter convention in Boston in 2008. The Wednesday right after we get married is a Harry Potter con by the same people who did the one that we went on our first date during. We are starting our honeymoon at the convention in Orlando and we just booked our room. When the con is over we are going on a cruise that stops in Nassau, Bahamas.

We went on a cruise to Cozumel, Belize, Isla Roatan, and Grand Cayman Islands.

Wow I seen a few sandals vacations, a few bahamas vacations, and I think the Harry Potter convention thingy is too cute as well. I also think the cruise idea is grand as well because you get several different locations, food included, and I think it's a way inexpensive way to get everything in. Good deal ladies!

Ours will most likely be an all-inclusive 7 day honeymoon at Couples Swept Away Resort in Jamaica.

Idk because FI is planning it as a surprise...I am secretly (or not so secretly) pushing for the Dominican Republic or St. Maarten or Jamaica (our fave vacation spot so far). I really don't care though as long as it is warm and I've got a beautiful beach and a fab resort...oh, and my sweetie! ;)

    Question for you ladies...
I haven't been on a cruise since I was ten...do you get much time at each stop? For some reason...I've never been amped about them, but everyone else seems to really enjoy them! Maybe it is because I spent too much time in the kiddie room as a child? (My parents and my grandma cruised regularly and took me along when I was a little girl...I'm thinking my memory is distorted though because I remember having to shop really quickly to make it back to the boat on time?)

We're going to Dreams P*nta Cana, DR for 5 days and I can't wait!!!

@Eagles347: Cruises are great!  I apprehensively went on my first cruise a few years ago and loved it!  Depending on your itinerary, you may spend a day or two in different ports, which is enough time to sight-see and shop.  One thing I have to say though, don't think you're gonna go on a cruise and relax.  There is so much to do, see, eat and drink, you'll need another vacation just to come down off the cruise...  ;)

I think it's probably because you were a kid that you don't remember it well.  Each port we stopped at (3) we spent the majority of the day or at least 6 hrs during the day at port. It gave us more than enough time to do an excursion and get a little shopping in as well. You have to plan your time accordingly though. Do excursions early and then you have the rest of the time to relax and shop.

I agree with pp eagles. Usually you have a couple of hours at each port. The last one FI and I went on we had like 6 hours at each port. We did excursions at each port. At one port we had a cooking class at Playa Marta in Cozumel. That took all day but we made appetizers, meal, and dessert. The other excursion we did in Progresso was to view the Maya Ruins i think that's what it was not sure but some kind of ruins and then we went back to another location for lunch. After that there was a rodeo show and then a dancing performance for us. We stil had time to browse and shop at each port too. Just make sure you are back to the ship before it leaves. For the excursions they'll have someone coming to pick you up and transport you to your destination. If you don't do any you are still able to walk or catch a cab to get to places to shop and site see.
