Dress Preservation

Did anyone or does anyone know someone who cleaned/preserved their dress after the ceremony? Is it worth it? Did you take it to someone local, or use a website?

Thanks!

I have no real information on this besides most people say that you have to send your dress away to get preserved.

I think some one mentioned that I Do Bridal has recommendations so maybe check with them. GL!

There is a lady in Federal Way that specializes in Floral, Gown & Keepsake preservation. That's all she does. Unfortunately I didn't meet her until 2 weeks after my wedding. Her name is Simone Perry and her number is 253-838-1069. Her website is www.sentimentalpreservation.com. If you contact her, please tell her Debi from RU says hello. :) (I don't get anything from this....)

Just my two cents: you don't have to preserve it unless it's something you already know you want to do, which is fine.  A few of my friends did (actually their mom's did it when they were on their HM... not sure my one friend was so happy about that since she can't really see it again except for the little viewing window, which I think is hiliarious).

ANYway, I had mine cleaned and then my mom made a garment bag for it out of white muslin.  Frankly, I plan on getting it out for fun, maybe on our anniversary.  In my mind, it's a dress and it won't blow up if it's not in an air-tight box with a window.  And it's not that I don't care about it (I know some girls who think it's silly to even keep it etc), my mom made it so it's obviously very important and I plan on having it forever.  I'd just like to enjoy it, get it out for a daughter I might have some day - it will survive :)

Amandasw - my childhood friend's mom (who is now friends with my mom) is actually a bit shocked I plan to sell my dress. Apparently she kept her dress and frequently took it out and let both her little girls try it on and wear it a bit, something they greatly enjoyed! So if you have a daughter, she probably will love that, too :)

I work in a bridal store and we have gown preservation for like $198.00 I think.  Its outsourced through a seperate company.  I haven't seen what the gowns look like in person because they get sent back to the bride's house and not my store but the viewing window is pretty big.  Its enough to see the neckline down to the waist-ish.  It gets covered in a chemical and sealed in the box.  If your daughter wants to wear it one day it would need to go to the cleaner so that the chemical can be removed.  I think its a good idea if you want to keep it forever but if you just feel like that is what you are suppose to do I wouldn't worry about it.  Also there is nothing saying that you need to do it right away.  Your dress isn't going to get ruined sitting in your closet for a year so don't stress yourself out about another detail right before your wedding.  :)
