Font color on envelope

Need help ladies! Almost time to start printing invites and the designer was talking to me about the color for the envelopes. The color is Steel Grey (from paperandmore.com). It has a shimmer metallic look to it. The picture below seems a little bit lighter to me than what it looks like in person. Anyway, my colors are yellow and gray and she suggested a yellow font would look cool. Is that doing too much? I'm afraid black will be too dark so yellow doesn't sound too bad. Can you weigh in or help me find pictures of examples on dark grey envelopes. I've tried but I couldn't find any. C'mon google queens I need your help!

Have you thought of doing a wrap around label? As you know my colors are eggplant and gray and I wanted a gray envelope (eventually settled for plain old ivory) at the time the designer suggested that I have someone do white calligraphy or a wrap around label. Off to go google:-)

Or maybe even do an ivory envelope with yellow and gray writing...

But to answer your question..lol. If you are going to do the dark gray envelope, I would do the black print. I think using a lighter gray envelope would look better with the yellow print.

Look at you go! LOL I already have purchased the envelopes so that's no turning back LOL I did actually consider wrap around but the printing company offered to do the laser calligraphy directly on the envelope so I like that option better. They offered to do one sample for me but I really don't have ANY spare envelopes to use as a test so I can do one.  I'm either going to test black or yellow (maybe white now that you suggeted it).

</div><div>You might not want to do this but here's a suggestion. Use the envelopes that you would send to your parent's and FI's parent's. Have them do the test in both colors with full names and addresses. I would think that your mom or FI's parent's wouldn't mind too much if their envelopes were being used as "testers". Or even ask your MOH if she would care. </div>

So....at some point I planned to write a post about that. I am using a local bride that nobody but the Lord hand delivered to me LOL She is looking to expand her business and is designing all of my stationary for FREE! I waited to see a couple proofs before I officially cancelled Sarah and she hit the nail on the head so I gave up my spot with Sarah.

I think you should go with either black or white.. but white may stand out better on the grey envelopes..
