Things are slow today! Let's talk Vows...

Are you writing your own? If so, what strategy are using? Did you and FI talk about a general theme of the vows before going off and writing your own?

(could you tell I need to start working on mine!)

Cha has me now interested in the covenant wedding/marriage. FI talked about it last weekend and I think it's what we are looking for. I found a detail script that I am thinking about showing the minister Sunday.  Vows found here .

  • @Key Oh and check your state to see if they honor covenant marriage...the legalities are not the same as a "traditional marriage"

</div><div>Yeah, I have been researching it more ever since Cha talked about. I know Indiana does not have a category for  covenant marriage. Of course my future lawyer had already been thinking about this and said Indiana passed something a while back on it. </div><div>
</div><div>Anywho, we are seriously looking into it, as we find it ideal. We just did not know, or rather I did not know, that this type of thing was legalized.

</div><div>Hey Key!!! I have the words to our ceremony if you want to view them. I don't think Indiana has a covenant marriage yet, but laws get passed all the time. Your pastor/minister would definitely know. </div><div>
</div><div>Basically, the covenant marriage is stating that you took all measures to ensure that your upcoming marriage is a commitment/covenant...not a contract that can easily be broken. Be aware that you if you want a divorce, it will be much harder. </div><div>
</div><div>For Jerard and I, we want to make sure that we exhaust all options trying to work it out for our family and ourselves IF it should ever come to that. We basically don't want to just say, we have irreconsolible differences...let's get a divorce. With a covenant marriage, it must include counseling before they will grant you a divorce, or you must be seperated for a year or 2 before getting a divorce. I personally think it is a great option for us, but it is not for everyone. Neither of us knew about this type of marriage until our minister asked us if that was what we wanted to do. And Jay and I are both glad he did tell us. He also informed us that most people do not go the Covenant Marriage route LOL. He said most people turn away at it because of the pre-marriage counseling sessions and because of the length of time it takes to get a divorce.</div><div>
