Drama begins:Advice needed

So today I get a fb message from my stepsister (whom I didn't invite to the wedding) saying that she never wants to see me or speak to me again. This is her usual form of communication with me and I haven't seen her since my father's funeral 2 years ago. FI didn't want me to invite either of my sisters (half or step) because I don't talk to them and the only time they contact me is a once in a while hey on my fb wall. I have not talked to them on the phone in years or hung out with them in my entire life. I sent one sister an invite because we did talk every now and then up until a few months ago.

She also said that my other sister that I did invite wasn't coming and was never speaking to me again either. Im really upset about the whole thing. I have never been close to either of them, but is it really necessary to send me a fb message about it because you don't have my phone number?

Was it wrong for me not to invite her?

It was not rude at all for you to not send her an invite and definitely you should be upset. You only want to invite people who are happy for you to share your day. It sounds like those step siblings are not for you at all.  It was extremely rude of the one to make a comment on you FB page like that. Rather bold if you ask me.  I know nothing about FB but I assume you can block any more of her comments from coming through.

Don't let them ruin the joy of your planning.

I don't think it is bad that you didn't invite them.  You said you all were not close.  People take titles such as family to mean something even if it doesn't.  Being related does not obligate an invite.  Being close to someone should, IMO.  I also think that the only way you should have is if you wanted to strengthen your relationship with them.  That would have been a good start.

You did fine.  You should have responded to one of them with "we don't talk or see each other anyway, so that should be easy."

You just said you aren't that close to your step sister, hence the reason you didn't invite her. Therefor, her message to you shouldn't bother you.

I don't think you're wrong for not inviting her, however by not inviting her, you have to be prepared for the severance of the relationship. Some people take not being invited to a wedding seriously.

I have two half brothers that I love and want a relationship with but I text my brother and FB him and don't get a reply out of him so I didn't invite him to the wedding.  I love him but I have lots of other people that I love and want with me on my wedding day.  Don't feel bad. She will get over it and begin the drive by hellos on FB again eventually.

If you really don't want them there, you aren't wrong. I'm a little confused though...even if y'all aren't close, who made the decision not to invite them...you or your FI? It read like he told you not to. That concerns me a little if you hadn't completely counted them out.
