So since I still have yet to find a full-time job in my field (perfusionist), we can't take the honeymoon that we wanted to take, which was going to Fiji

I still wanted to at least go
somewhere, so the day after our wedding we're going to fly back here to Washington where we live and drive to Vancouver, Canada since it's within driving distance and we'll go to Fiji for our first anniversary. We've always wanted to go to Vancouver, especially after watching the winter olympics, so we're taking a little 6 day honeymoon there. The great thing about it though is that since FI is a pharmaceutical sales rep for Pfizer, he does tons of traveling and he's racked thousands of points with Marriott, so we're staying in a 5 star Marriott in downtown Vancouver for FREE! Plus, Pfizer pays for all of his gas, and since FI has a SUV we'll be saving a crap ton of money on gas.
I know that I should be excited since we're getting a super cheap deal, but I really wanted Fiji

I guess I have to look at the big picture and see that at least I'll be with the love of my life in a place where we've always wanted to go.
Re: Honeymoon Check...sort of
It's funny, I am in a similar situation.... sort of. FI works overseas (Kuwait) and is coming home a week before the wedding. Unfortunately, after we get married on Sunday, he wil have to head back on the following Sunday so we don't have a lot of time to take the trip we want to take. We live outside of Baltimore and decided to drive to NY and spend the week in Manhattan. We plan to see a couple of shows and do some shopping and enjoy the night life in the Big Apple. I travel A LOT for work and I had enough points to get a suite in Times Square for the week...FREE. The suite is regularly $599/nt.
On our first anniversary, we are planning a trip to Africa.... still trying to decide where, but I would love to do Capetown. I want to do a safari so bad! If we decide on something more tropical, I think we might go to Mauritius.
Congrats on your check!!! I know it feels so to get one more thing accomplished.
That sounds cool. just look at it this way, You get to go on 2 honeymoons! Vancouver sounds great. Plus you're getting a great deal with the hotel and gas. This'll be like rehearsal for your Fiji trip. Gotta build up the anticipation! I hope you two have an amazing time!

Good way to look at it! I'm in the same boat. We won't be able to go on a honeymoon just yet, but will travel to a bed & breakfast for a few days. As long as FI & I are together.....we'll have a ball!
