the downside of internet RSVP responses

We now have 3 people that RSVP Yes to our wedding via the website and we have no clue who they are. I asked the in-laws and they had no clue, but there is a slight possibility that they were invited.

Future in-laws were given 50 people they could invite and at least 10% of those guests names were "Brother Smith, Or Sister Janice" Ummmm...If you don't know the first and last name of a guest than you must not be that close...You think?? I wish I could have put a password code on the site but since his parent's didn't know the correct proper names of some of their guests I didn't bother.

I've surrendered my issues with this guest list and I'm going to reclaim my calm.

agreed because we going to have this option too.

real happy girl- theknot has wedding website? I can't find it. I'm using wedding wire for ours. there's a place you can put first/last name but i guess you can put whatever you want.

  • Ouch... I'm not tryin to have Brother or Sister anyone at my wedding... You are right, just cause they go to your church doesn't mean that they're you friend. What is their first name???

Ok, I'm on a little rampage tonight. But I'm sorry... I feel your pain. I am really sorry... It will all work out.

Is there someone on the in-laws side you can ask about this? Or have you already?
  • Yes I'm using the Knot's guest book manager to track RSVPs. If someone fills in their name they get a message that their information is not found but we still get an e-mail that they tried to RSVP.

I'm just really pissed right now because last night I had FI call his parents to find out if they knew who these people were. Well his dad gets all upset that WE aren't keeping track of his guests. WTF!!!!

Example: I get one RSVP Yes for Jane Doe. FFIL's guest list says Mr. & Mrs. John Jones. I'm supposed to magically know that Jane is his wife and she kept her maiden name. This is killing me and it took the Holy Spirit to keep me from going off on this man. Who is a Pastor.
I was frustrated before but I gave him a break because he is older but for him to act like we aren't organized while HE is the one that don't know HIS guest's names......is too much!

Sorry for the long RANT! I needed to get that out. Thanks for listening sistas!

  • I'm sorry that you don't know who they are! In-laws can really be crazy.

Another thing that sucks about internet responses is that guests can add whoever the hell they want. Meaning they can RSVP for 5 people, when you really only intended for two. I'm not really sure how you would get around that.
  • This is exactly why as much as I wanted to be up in the times and have the RSVP list exported to excel, I want that card back. Easier to weed them out.

YES! And they still complain that so many of their friends are going to be upset that they didn't get an invite, DUDE!?! You don't even know the names of the people you did invite!

Don't be afraid girl, I'm sure your experience won't be as bad as mine. I made the mistake of trying to make them happy. See if I EVER do that again!
