Anniversary...

So I'm curious, are there any girls still around that have recently had their 1 year anniversary?  (this is more necessary for part "b" of the post)

a) we can't think of anything to do.  partly because (as a very sentimental person) I can't think of anything else besides having my wedding again that would be as fun as my wedding :)  also we don't really want to spend a ton of money (maybe keep it around the price of a fancy dinner or possibly one night at a nice hotel), but I'd like it to be something special.

b) has anyone actually gotten an anniversary cake from Kelli?  I remember her saying that she would make us one, but I feel weird asking for it for some reason.  Just wondering if anyone has done that.

thanks!

Ok, I'm only at the 3 week mark but have some input for you anyway. :D and wow, it is NOT approaching your one year already, is it?!!?

    a) Do you ever go to B&Bs? If you don't, then that's something not ridiculously expensive but very nice and special you could do. Go to one out of town, like maybe up in La Conner.

    b) I know Kelli does do the anniversary cakes, just make sure to get it within her specified time frame. I think that gives you like a 2-week leeway either direction from your wedding date. Just call her up. :D She's only annoyed by people who try to do some shenanigans, like get it early/late and try to swap it for a birthday cake instead. (I saw an FB discussion about this, that's how I know.)

    a) great idea! we never really do stuff like that, so maybe driving somewhere would be fun.

    b) ok, that's good to know.  I just feel weird about it for some reason, but I'll make sure to call her soon.

    I know, I can't believe it either!!

Maybe go out to dinner where you had your wedding or rehearsal?  We were married at a Novelty Hill/Januik Winery and it was really special for us to go back on our anniversary and go wine tasting.  (They also do full glasses & flatbread pizza so we had lunch and purchased a few bottles of wine to enjoy later and be reminded every time we open a bottle.)  The winery's coordinator was there getting ready for another wedding so we got to visit & reminisce with her, which made it even more special (I know that sounds a little silly, but once we saw her it made our visit seem even more special to us.).

aww that's a really nice idea!  We could definitely go back to the place where we had our rehearsal dinner, not sure about the reception (it was at a private club, The Harbor Club, and it was a friend of my dad who sponsored us).  I might try to see if we could do it though, I would really love that.  Thanks!

Groupon coupon today is for half off the ferry to Victoria. You leave Seattle at 7:30 am and leave from Victoria at 7:00 pm.

I like the idea of the "full-circle" as well. Our first official date was dinner at Pasta Bella. So for our final dating anniversary, we had dinner there again.

I saw that groupon!  I actually thought about going there last night (what a coincidence) because that's where my parents went for their honeymoon.  Yay, I'm feeling happier about this :)

I was totally going to suggest the Groupon too!!  Also, if you do go to Victoria and Il Terrazzo is open, DH and I loved the dinner we had there when we were in town. http://www.ilterrazzo.com/ I can't wait to go back there for dinner again!

ooh that looks like a GREAT place!  we love the occasional fancy dinner :)
what do you think about making it a day trip vs. spending one night?  Plus, the Groupon is a passenger boat so we wouldn't have a car.  I've been to Victoria (DH never has), but it's been a while and I don't remember how far stuff is etc.

The one thing you'll have to look more into the details of the Groupon is if it allows you to stay the night - I don't think it does, but double check.  Personally I think it would be nice to spend the night in Victoria especially if you can afford the splurge (high tourist season right now) but it's gorgeous there and as I recall fairly easy to walk within reason of course.  Maybe look into a VRBO? http://www.vrbo.com/81611 Verify of course that the owner will do a one night rental (some have mins of 2-3 nights).  Also if you can do a day and do have a car, definitely check out Butchart Gardens - it was niceish in February and I'm sure it's beautiful in the summer.

Another option if you can't do or decide against Victoria is to take the ferry to Orcas Island for a night - the view from Mt. Constitution on a beautiful day is UH-MAZING!
