Where did your mom/GM, FI's mom/Gm get there dresses? Also, if you don't mind...can you share a pic. FI's GM has been asking repeatedly what color she should get, what length is appropriate, what color my mom is wearing, etc. I don't have answers for this and honestly have very little time to devote to finding them. I don't mean that as bad as it sounds, I'm just busy and the internet isn't much help. I have given her the answers that FI, Cam, my mom, and my planner agreed on...pick a color that complements (unless she wants to "match") and that a formal gown was not necessary. She is not happy with that. Please help...

For a GM dress I would say like Macys, JCPenny, or Sears. My grandma is getting a suit and hat from which ever one she finds the best deal at. She and my mom will both be wearing at least one of the wedding colors.
My mom is actually designing and sewing her own dress so I have no idea what it will look like. I would say for a MOB dress to check the stores above and also at her local mall a prom/evening dress store.

I agree with JKeyes because those bridal salons charge way too much for the same things you can find at Macy's, Dillards, etc. Even Ross, Marshall's, or TJ Max.

My mom bought her dress from Belk and she got it for a really great price...I think it was on a sales rack. It's a navy blue knee length dress with a silver design on it (my colors are navy blue, white, and silver). It's a really pretty dress and it didn't cost her that much. I told my FMIL to wear a navy blue dress as well.

I told my mom and my FMIL that they can wear any colors they want, but they both want to wear blue or gray.  Fine by me - I'm easy (as long as it isn't a loud floral print, LOL).

So they are both looking at places like Nordstrom and Dillards.  I would definitely stay away from bridal salons for their dresses - just too expensive and the mother's dresses are usually pretty generic in those places (in my opinion).

my mom and FMIL are also wearing african garb.  i let them pick whatever colors they wanted.  my mom will be wearing a lilac outfit with gold embroidery.  FMIL is wearing a bronze colored with white embroidery.

My mom got a pants suit from Alfred Angelo in Eggplant. I asked FI's mom a while back but I'm not sure. Aslong as my mommy looks good!
