wedding stationary..

So I have a question. It might be stupid but I really want your opinion on it.

I made my bridesmaids cards to ask them to be in my BP and I used the idea that i had for my invitations originally.

I really like that design but I honestly do not want to waste paper and I can't figure out how to print more than one on a page without the flourishes overlapping... I just can't make myself waste the paper and its really frustrating me.

Today I went to Impress to drop off the template for the stamp for our napkins and saw a BUNCH of really cool invitation ideas that are made with 1-2 stamps. Most of the stamps were flowers but the designs were simple but beautiful. Just my style. :0)

our wedding is going to be an evening summer wedding. the colors are a bright green and bright blue. It seems very fun and although I want it to be semi formal, the invitation ideas that I like from the place are very floral and almost antique looking. I took a few pictures of the ones i like..

so here is the question:

If I change my mind on the invitations and decide to use a stamp so I can just print the invitations and everything first and then stamp them.. and if i use a floral design but am not using TONS of flowers at my wedding, and since I've already given the girls the cards that I made that match the original invitation design, and my wedding isn't like vintage afternoon garden wedding, do you think i could get away with using a stamp??

I know this is crazy and I just need to make up my mind but I'm having the most difficult time trying to figure it out... its really frustrating me..

help girls.

here is a pic of a few of the ones i really liked....

i REALLY love this invite. So simple but so pretty. I could have a green mat and the flowers could be blue... WDYT? Does it matter that I'm not using the flowers in my centerpieces? Does that even matter??

You can do whatever you want.  I like the first one best.  And I vote for easiest, least stressful invites that you are still happy with.  If that's stamps, then do stamps.

And, FWIW, I think that (I'm not crafty, but I've been told by crafty people) you can get those swirls and designs cut out w/ a crickett or similar dye/die (I dunno).  Also, I've seen at craft stores paper punches that have similar designs.  So, that's another way to go if you want to keep your original design but w/o printing it.

I think the stamps are a great idea. I love the first two. The third one might be cute if you layered with different colors (green and blue feathers) IMO.  I dont think its a big deal if you have flowers on your invites and not much at the wedding. But I do think the third would be cool because its part of your theme. My fav is defiantly the first I love the style ribbon font all of it :) Lastly o well if your invites dont match the bm cards. Nobody else will know and I am sure the bm wont even think they didnt match :)

I'll admit to absolutely loving your BM cards!  I thought it was the cutest idea and really love the flourishes on those.  That said, I actually think these are totally in the same general style of your BM cards.  Especially the 1st one (which is also my fav) or 3rd and if you're switching up the colors with your bold blue.  I say do the stamps and save yourself the trouble of fighting with your printer.

I don't think the flowers matter - it's likely a situation in which you are the only one who will notice that level of detail.

Sara, did you try making just a white box to cover up the extra part of the flourish?  When I made my map, I had part that was sticking out farther than I wanted, so I just covered it up with a white rectangle in PP, and it worked!  I think that's what you're having trouble with, right?  You're only using part of the pre-made flourish thing within your invite, so the extra is going outside the lines.  If you cover up the extra parts, it should work for you.  And if you have no idea what I am talking about, let me know, I will try to explain better.

I think you are getting a little nutso and waaay overthinking it! (Only a friend would say that, right?) Meaning...I don't think anyone but you (and us now that we know and are totally crashing your wedding) would notice that the cards had flowers but you don't have many flowers in your CP. In general, I like the first one best, but I also like 3 as it's your theme.

Regarding your current invite issue...I know you designed in Powerpoint and you can't get it to print two to a page correctly. You did figure out how to export from Powerpoint to a PDF, right? Because you could do that and then put two PDFs on a page.

OK I read this twice but I still don't understand what the BM cards have to do with your invites? lol

they don't really.. i just used the design that i had for my invites to sorta tie in my original stationary idea...

i'm just like that. :0) I'm feeling that if I change my mind on the invites, it will be weird.. this is why i need sane people to help..

i've been thinking about this WAY too much and its stressing me out.

OK, yes, let's get down off that ledge, crazy girl! Hehe just kidding.

But seriously it doesn't matter! Do what you love!

If you're having trouble printing, definitely do the PDF or fudge it with a white box like someone suggested. Or try googling "printing n-up [your application here]."

Hah.  FI was talking with a friend of his about how he was nitpicking on my invite design and I got all mad at him, and his friend was like, Dude, your girl designed the invitations herself, is gonna make them herself, and they'll be cooler and cheaper than if you bought them?  You've completely lost your perspective.

So... my dear, you've lost your perspective.  If you want the design you've already done, then try to fix it.  If you want a new one, fine.  Either way, no one's gonna notice if they don't exactly match your theme, or if you're not using a lot of flowers in your CPs.  It's all good!

(btw, I'm totally going to Impress tomorrow.  That place looks awesome!)
