1)  How did your FI/DH propose?
On his birthday a couple of years ago, it was after we went out to dinner and came back to our apartment.  After he was finished opening up his presents, he said there was one more present, but it was for both of us.  He got down on one knee and asked

3)  How long will you be engaged?
It was 18 months and 17 days

4)  What does your e-ring look like?
It is a solitaire (see below)  I had it soldered to my wedding band.

5)  What will your wedding band look like?
It is a wrap style ring (around my e-ring), and has some pretty engraving detail, and 7 blue sapphires (to represent our 7 years together, since we got married on our 7th dating anniversary)

Rustic and Vintage: with polka dots, lace and wood details.

7)  What are your wedding colors?
Royal Blue, Kelly Green and Champagne

8)  What kind of venue(s) do you have? (Ceremony and Reception)
Barn venue for both ceremony and reception.

9)  How many people are in your wedding party?
10, 5 on each side.  No ring bearer or flowergirl.

10)  How many guests do you think you'll invite?
We invited just under 120, and had about 85 attend (we had a lot of OOT guests)

11)  What has been the most fun aspect of wedding planning?
Dress alterations, it was so fun to get dressed up before the big day!

12)  What has been the least fun?
Getting everyone's RSVPs.

13)  What kind of food will you be serving at your reception?
We served BBQ food:  Smoked salmon, pulled pork, BBQ chicken, Veggie lasagna (for the vegetarians), corn bread, coleslaw, and green beans with almonds & red peppers.

14)  Are you going to do a bouquet toss?
We did, my MOH caught it!

15)  Are you going to do a garter toss?
Yup, we did this too.

Old:  My faux pearl ring I made, that is part of my Sorority's tradition
New:  My necklace that I wore
Borrowed:  A gold bracelet with emeralds and diamonds that I borrowed from my MOH
Blue:  My gold diamond and blue sapphire ring that DH gave me on our 5 year dating anniversary.

19)  What is your favorite registry item?
Our KitchenAid Stand Mixer!!!! LOVE

20)  Where are you going for your honeymoon?
We went to Maui for a week   It was awesome!

It was delicious ... stuffed chicken, beef, a made-to-order pasta bar, salad, carrots, foccacia bread and 3 amazing appies

We did a minimoon to a B&B ... and honeymoon is to Costa Rica in October!

1)  How did your FI/DH propose? On my birthday last year with M&M's.  Gave me some that said "Happy Bday", then switched and gave me some that said "will you marry me?"  Down on Ruston Way in Tacoma (the waterfront) at sunset.  Sigh.... 

2)  When is/was your wedding date?  (if you don't have a date picked yet, when do you think you'll get married?) 38 days!  July 30th

3)  How long will you be engaged? Just over 14 months

7)  What are your wedding colors? Dark blue and light blue with various shades of blue accepted.  A few accents of white.

8)  What kind of venue(s) do you have? (Ceremony and Reception) Church on Fox Island with this view.  We're there for both ceremony and reception with reception on the patio again w/this view.  Hoping for clear skies!



9)  How many people are in your wedding party? 4

10)  How many guests do you think you'll invite? 300 were invited, have had more no's than I expected. 116 is current count but 2 weeks until RSVP date.

11)  What has been the most fun aspect of wedding planning? The excitement others have expressed in helping me with things.

12)  What has been the least fun? Budgeting

13)  What kind of food will you be serving at your reception? Cake, punch, coffee

14)  Are you going to do a bouquet toss? Yes, with a silk bouquet.

15)  Are you going to do a garter toss? Yes, but tastefully done - no crawling under my dress!  LOL

17)  What do your wedding shoes look like? These but in cream w/a slight wedge.  Cute and comfy!



18)  What are your Something Old, New, Borrowed, Blue? Old is a pearl bracelet my great-aunt gave me, new is my veil a friend is making, borrowed I still haven't decided on, blue is my necklace.

19)  What is your favorite registry item? Don't know that I have a favorite.

20)  Where are you going for your honeymoon? 7-day cruise to Alaska!

1)  How did your FI/DH propose?
It was a hot and uncomfortable night in our bedroom. He'd been teasing me with it for a while (we'd already picked the ring, but he still felt like he needed to make it "official.") I was thrashing around in bed complaining about how I couldn't sleep, and he said something about how maybe if he asked me to marry him, it would help me calm down. Semi-proposal, if you ask me!

August 19, 2011

3)  How long will you be engaged?
14 months

4)  What does your e-ring look like? (looks a little bluer in the picture - it's a lavender sapphire in a palladium semi-bevel setting )




5)  What will your wedding band look like?
Four guys in suits (just kidding! But they will look like that!) It's a palladium band with a sort of infinity/two-piece braided band - like a lot of figure 8s all in a row, to go along with the twists of the e-ring.

6)  What kind of theme is your wedding?
Simple, sleek, a little vintage-y

7)  What are your wedding colors?
Purple, in all shades. I don't even like purple that much, it just matches the lavender from the sash on my dress. It all grew out of that and took on a fierce purple dominance.

8)  What kind of venue(s) do you have? (Ceremony and Reception)
One place - exposed brick with rescued vintage signs and a nice courtyard (Georgetown Ballroom)

9)  How many people are in your wedding party?
Two people standing up for each of us, plus flower girl and ring bearer

10)  How many guests do you think you'll invite?
Invited about 275 total, expecting about 150 (we have 73 yes RSVPs so far, three weeks to go until due date).

11)  What has been the most fun aspect of wedding planning?
Checking off the RSVPs as they come in.

12)  What has been the least fun?
Picking the ceremony music. I don't know why, but I'm super wussy about calling the pianist! I haven't done it yet, and I really need to.

13)  What kind of food will you be serving at your reception?
Steak with fig sauce, vegetarian roll-up things, roasted vegetables, mediteranian salad, rissoto.

14)  Are you going to do a bouquet toss?
No.

15)  Are you going to do a garter toss?
No.

16)  What does your caketopper look like? It's the two of us! Yay! We actually have four little cakes instead of one big one, but this is my favorite and most elaborate topper.


17)  What do your wedding shoes look like?
Major source of stress. I just ordered 4 pairs online tonight. We'll see what happens!

18)  What are your Something Old, New, Borrowed, Blue?
Old - grandmother's handkerchief, New - pearl necklace, Borrowed - don't have anything yet, Blue - flowers on grandmother's handkerchief

19)  What is your favorite registry item?
Collectively, all of the Fiesta Ware items to flush out my collection.

20)  Where are you going for your honeymoon?
Puerto Vallarta.

1)  How did your FI/DH propose? At a cute coastal village in Vancouver (Deep Cove). We had discussed retiring there some day and he planned a weekend picnic trip to go find the perfect retirement house.

2)  When is/was your wedding date?  (if you don't have a date picked yet, when do you think you'll get married?) July 16, 2011

3)  How long will you be engaged? Technically, we're already married. He came into the country on a K-1 (fiance) visa May 25, 2010, and we had 90 days to get married. I wanted a summer wedding... It's probably impossible to plan a summer wedding in 90 days in Seattle starting so late. :P So court ceremony for just parents, and now larger one for all the friends who have supported us throughout the 10ish years. It was less than a year after we got engaged that we had our court ceremony though.

4)  What does your e-ring look like? Simple cathedral band in white gold with a 1c princess cut diamond.

5)  What will your wedding band look like? Simple 3mm white gold band.

6)  What kind of theme is your wedding? Whimsical, fun, while elegant.

7)  What are your wedding colors? Celestial blue, buttercup, white, with other colored accents here and there.

8)  What kind of venue(s) do you have? (Ceremony and Reception) Just one venue for both. Lakeside with an indoor ballroom for dancing later.

9)  How many people are in your wedding party? 2 flower girls, 1 ring boy, 2 bridesmaids, 1 groomsman, and 2 ushers. 8.

10)  How many guests do you think you'll invite? We invited 146 people in about 80 invitations.

11)  What has been the most fun aspect of wedding planning? The food.

12)  What has been the least fun? The people.

13)  What kind of food will you be serving at your reception? I love our menu. (Have I mentioned I /love/ food?) It just got mostly completed the other day with a few things that still are tbd.

Cocktail hour: foie gras mousse on brioche with apple compote, chicken manchego croustades with quince paste, poached shrimp cocktail in a cucumber cup, grilled cheese sandwich wedges with a demitasse of tomato soup, corn and jalapeno hush puppies, cheese and fruit.

Dinner: fresh corn and jalapeno soup, wedge salad, sorbet, a choice of grilled beef tenderloin or saffron butter poached lobster.

Dessert: wedding cake!

Late night snack: French fry bar with two kinds of french fries and a huge variety of toppings.

14)  Are you going to do a bouquet toss? No.

16)  What does your caketopper look like? It's two little bears sitting with their backs to each other.

    We were having a picnic dinner out at Kayak Point beach. After our dinner we when to sit on some driftwood, and he was holding my hand and just got to one kneed and asked "will you marry me?"

   13 months

4)  What does your e-ring look like?
   Veru unique and I have heard "antique" It is 4 princess cut diamonds, set in a square to make up a bigger center stone, with a halo setting of smaller round diamonds and diamonds down the band.

5)  What will your wedding band look like?
   A band of small round diamonds to match my e-ring

6)  What kind of theme is your wedding?
   Elegant but spunky

7)  What are your wedding colors?
   Red, white and black

8)  What kind of venue(s) do you have? (Ceremony and Reception)
   Leifer Manor in Marysville, WA. All outdoor in a beautiful garden

   3 bridesmaids, 2 groomsman and my dog as ring bearer

   Around 100

   Dress shopping (bought it!) venue tours (secured it!) and planning with family and friends

   A mix, his family is Guatemalan so they will be cooking foods from their culture, and my family will be cooking some American style!
